What the fuck does this even mean?
1. It seems like he thinks they played better based on his eye and analytics, but is just rolling with Vesey
2. why invest in expanding analytics if you’re just going to ignore them?
Everyday Gallant makes less sense.
What drives me insane is that in the press conference, he said that Lafreniere hasn’t gotten the opportunities like a lot of other kids do because we have to win also and that the veterans in front of him on the LW are the guys they rely on to do that.
Panarin has been awful. He has done more harm than good to this team since game one of last year, outside of the OT goal. How about demoting Artemi at 5v5 and on the PP so that one of the kids actually gets a chance? Even Filip Chytil, who has basically been our best forward, sees basically zero PP time. Why is it so difficult to see that something isn’t working and make a change?
Like why not just literally try something like this for a stretch of ten+ games, since we already suck ass. Doesn’t have to be set in stone:
Kreider, Zibanejad, Kakko
Lafreniere, Trocheck, Kravtsov
Panarin, Chytil, Goodrow
Whatever fucking bums we have plus Gauthier
PP1: Zibanejad, Trocheck, Kreider, Lafreniere, Fox
PP2: Panarin, Chytil, Kravtsov, MILLER and SCHNEIDER instead of Trouba since Zac Jones is gone for now
SPLIT the units up to give the opposing team different looks. Literally do anything other than keep riding the veterans.
The fact that this clown isn’t fired already is enough for me to be over drury as well. Buchnevich trade was bad but I was willing to give him more rope. But at this point he is just as responsible for this teams woes too.
Put Kakko back with Kreider and ZBad, and Laf back with Panarin and Trocheck. Or let’s say fuck it and go with something crazily different.

I’m sorry but I need one of Laf or Kakko in the top six. Preferably Kakko the way he has been playing the last month or so. Anyone who watches the games, sees that Kakko has an innate ability to have the puck on his stick like a string, and creates and facilitates for his teammates, all while backchecking and working the cycle consistently. There is a reason guys like Messier invoke the name Jagr when KK has the puck. This isn’t just some comparison thrown out there, one of the all time great leaders in this league, sees KK as a gamebreaker. Gallant, Drury, and the Rangers, have done him such a disservice. I’m calling on them to fix this now. My younger brother is a massive Kakko fan and his nightmare is that they move on from this kid and he becomes a great player elsewhere.
I guess this is what happens when you hire a GM who was a consensus well regarded signing bust himself who’s contract we even bought out lol

Yikes that is all I will say at this point to be fair we all knew gallant thinks analytics are for crazy people and the gallant eye test rules all also his eyes have been seeing that we have been playing hard recently so I think maybe his kids should get him glasses for Christmas.

Is he basically admitting the analytics are saying that Kreider/Zib/Kakko and Panarin/Trocheck/Laffy were the best Top 6? Which mind you anyone with eyeballs could agree with that?
And he’s seemingly deciding to NOT play the best Top 6 because…….Just cuz?
Like…. I have to be interpreting this wrong? Because if not, this sure as hell seems like a strategy of trying to get fired and getting a free paycheck for the next few years.
This goes beyond analytics. It’s just PURE FUCKING STATS. Laffy and Kakko (SHOCKER) played their best hockey when playing with good forwards. And the first line in particular was even very good analytically on top of it.
This is like what all the conspiracy analytics people were saying, and he just is like yeah it’s true I don’t want to put the most effective top 6 together.
There’s no way Gallant’s seat isn’t at least heating up/very nearly hot at this point. While I don’t think he’ll get fired mid season, I’m of the belief that the longer he leads the room, the more damage he is doing to this team’s core. He’s effectively been Drury’s lapdog and fits the image that’s been pushed, which has led to some detriment.
The messages from the players and the coach have not been agreeing. That is the first sign that they either A) don’t listen to him (which many have speculated) or B) he’s overly optimistic for fear of being fired (also been speculated). Who knows which one it is – I’d love to be a fly on the wall in that locker room.
GG really *should* be fired on the coming roadtrip, but so should his entire coaching staff. Is it possible that he could see us through to another playoff berth? Absolutely, but my confidence has waned to the maximum and I think a rock in a suit could do a better job than he has.
Lastly, should the coaching staff get blown up, so should Panarin’s contract. He may have points – but as was assumed, it’s value is aging like cottage. His effort/level of play is not reflecting his 11.5 million dollar cap hit.
