  1. Honestly glad divisional play is lessening this year w how hard ~~everyone in the West~~ Seattle and Texas ~~is~~ are tooling up to compete.

  2. I truly would love to see Texas compete, but I think everyone knew this was about the bag and Jake doesnt care a lick about winning

  3. It’s funny to me to think that anything deGrom would have to say over Zoom (aside from monetary discussions) would somehow sway a GM into signing him. It’s deGrom. I don’t know what else you’re gunna learn about him with a Zoom convo. You’re signing him because the guy paints 100 mph fastballs and throws a 92 mph slider.

Obviously this is a simplistic view and of course they gotta chat before making a huge decision like this, but it’s just funny to think about deGrom interviewing for a job like a fresh college grad. GMs asking him questions like “tell me a time you overcame adversity.”

  4. Look, admittedly I’m a salty ass Mets fan and realistically what else are they going to say but Jake has been waiting to win forever with the Mets. They just had their best team since he’s been there and now he wants to help rebuild a team?

Whatever I’m a bitch. No disrespect to Rangers fans.

  5. I am old enough to remember the schools in Colorado were the deciding factor for Mike Hampton

  6. You don’t leave a 100 win team to go to a 68 win team and say it was a commitment to winning. I love Jake, but thats just stupid.

  7. How do you leave the Mets after a 101 win season, sign with Texas and say you want to play on winner. No disrespect to the Rangers but they are a,bit away from being a winner.

  8. I bet if you look back to the 2000 off-season you’d see ARod saying the same thing about going to the Rangers, this is just what a player has to say when they sign a big deal like that. Jake knows he’d have a better chance of winning in the next couple years with the team coming off a 101 win season as opposed to the 68 win team, but he preferred the money and living in Texas

  9. People need to stop reading so much into comments that are clearly the standard correct response. What’s he going to say? He only left for $$ and couldn’t care less about winning?

He’s competitive and I’m sure he wanted to see some sort of promise in the organization or a plan to improve, but we know he was taking the best deal as most players do. Don’t take these comments so personally.

  10. I hope this really works and isn’t being used as a case study of stupidity in a few years. (Rangers fan)

  11. Degrom and his wife meet at a rodeo. His parents were cattle ranchers he owns a cattle ranch in deland also I am thinking it might be the country that degrom wanted

  12. “Jake, how committed are you to playing on a winner?”

    “Ehh I’d really rather not…”

“You’re signed. Welcome to the Texas Rangers.”

  13. Just like the winning culture at Team France during the WBC qualifiers? See you in third place, Texas.

  14. Nothing against Bochy-speak…but in the process of building a winning culture is like my son saying he is fixin to get ready to take out the trash ….Like that could mean hours , days, months …even years.

  15. Bochy is worth 7 dumb guy WAR? I’d give any team he manages a shot so he’s definitely playing for a winner next year.
