[Pincus] With Anthony Davis in MVP Form, Lakers Should Go All-In This Trade Season

  1. Key takeaways are that Pincus states trading Westbrook isn’t a certainty, and the Lakers can get to $29.4 million if they packaged Beverley and Nunn with Jones, Toscano-Anderson and Christie.

Pincus also lists the following as potential targets:

Bojan Bogdanović and Alec Burks (Detroit Pistons)

Mo Bamba, Gary Harris and Terrence Ross (Orlando Magic)

    Buddy Hield (Indiana Pacers)

Cam Reddish and Evan Fournier (New York Knicks)

    Jae Crowder (Phoenix Suns)

Gary Trent Jr., OG Anunoby and Chris Boucher (Toronto Raptors)

    Kyle Kuzma (Washington Wizards)

Kelly Oubre Jr. and Mason Plumlee (Hornets)

Eric Gordon and KJ Martin (Houston Rockets)

Bogdan Bogdanović and John Collins (Atlanta Hawks)

    Seth Curry (Nets)

    Alex Caruso (Bulls)

    Matisse Thybulle (76ers)

    Cedi Osman (Cavaliers)

  2. Looks like we have good options to choose from if they indeed are on the table.

Caruso. Kuz. The Toronto package. Shit even Seth curry.

How quickly the tables turn and we can have hope for this season.

  3. I’m a Clipper fan and typically don’t comment on Laker affairs but respect them as a franchise and would love for the battle of LA to be competitive so here’s my suggestion:

-Play it out and see if the Pacers continue to lose as their schedule is starting to get rough and they will become sellers if so to go after Wembayana

-Consider they dumped Brogdon for salary and Buddy is their highest paid player while they have plenty of other wings including Mathurin looking to get more playing time. It’s also no secret Turner plans to leave as a free agent and will either walk or be dealt in a separate deal elsewhere

-Offer up Bev, Nunn and a top 5 protected 2027 first (it will be easier if the Lakers keep winning as they’ll look less desperate in discussions)

-Considering Indiana will likely expect the Lakers to suck by then and Bev and Nunn are both expirings, this may be enticing enough for them to offload one role player and cut a ton of salary

-Lakers add an elite shooter in Hield to an already now solid shooting roster with Davis, LeBron, Lonnie, Reaves, Brown Jr having all upped their shooting percentages to respectable levels. Buddy is also under contract an additional year and the Lakers would have his bird rights which is something they need to start working toward with more of their players

-Sign Derrick Favors to the minimum to help with their interior defense/rebounding and additional vet presence

-Gradually continue to build chemistry up past the trade deadline. Do not trade Russ his playmaking is vital and letting his 47 mil expire will give them the money to resign Lonnie, Reaves and Russ himself to a team friendly deal as they have his bird rights

    -Cut Damian Jones

-Wait for the buyout market and keep an eye on Jae Crowder. If Phoenix is unable to deal him, he will be a buyout candidate and the team needs to jump all over that to fill their hole at the wing with respectable shooting, good defense and rebounding

-If Crowder is dealt, there will still be additional buyout candidates by that time and the Lakers can likely find a workable 3 and D and still have an additional roster spot. If so for the hell of it, bring back Matt Ryan if still available lol

Financially, all this checks out and works if Pelinka plays his cards right. It sets them up as contenders this year and allows them to maintain enough of their key players next year to continue to build and make another run.

  4. I would love to see Caruso and Kuz come back.

I still don’t want to give up the FRPs unless it is worth it for short and long term. Don’t give up those picks for expiring contracts Rob!!!!!!

  5. I would love to see Kuz back in a lakers jersey, Caruso too but Kuz fills a more pressing need on the current roster.

  6. Checking out this list and just had a crazy thought, let’s get the band back together! It could be a three-way or two separate trades: Bev + a couple of seconds for Kuzma. Nunn + Christie for Caruso (or some configuration of that – neither Kuz or Caruso are worth a FRP).

STARTERS: Caruso, Walker, Kuz, Bron, AD

BENCH: Russ, Reaves, Brown, Gabriel, Bryant

  7. Up to 88 mill they trade out 😯 I have no idea they could offer up to like 6 mill in cash too… also didn’t know once the 15th hit they could trade some guys and get up to 29 mill without trading Russ
