25 years at Capital One Arena: How DC became a hockey town

  1. It really should be a hockey town, they’ve been the best sports product in DC the last 25 years, Yet this is and always will be a Football town. Just listen to sports radio in the area. The coverage of Commanders football, dominates the airwaves all times of the year.

  2. Ovechkin is the reason the arena is packed nowadays. It was EMPTY (unless we played Pitt/Philly) before Ovi

  3. I didn’t realize that Unleash the Fury came from the Thrashers. I remember the days before Ovi, you could get a row 3 ticket for $50. In 07-08, I remember being in 7th grade and there was only one other kid excited for opening night. By the same time next season, more than half the school was excited for it. God what a time that was though. So much hope and promise in non-HD.

Does anyone know if they are offering 25th anniversary merch?
