For those who have forgotten, this was Soto from 2020 to 2021, don’t let his 52 games with the Padres discourage you, he’s by far the best hitter on this team and it’s not even close

  1. Keep in mind he did that while being 21-22 years old. Not to mention he had already debuted at 19 and he’s always put up an OBP above .400

Soto is more than proven, like I’ve said many times he just needs to get used to his new team and city, once he finds his groove again we’ll experience MVP/locked in Soto for the first time.

  2. He’s going to be great with the shift gone. I know he has a great eye but I hope he is a little more aggressive in the box than he was in the second half of last year.

  3. If people are “discouraged” by his performance with us then they’re delusional. As long as he’s healthy he’ll do well and his health has never been in question.

  4. F@ck Judge and Turner. Save that money and give it to Soto for a long contract. This kid is gonna be great for a very long time. You guys should have no problem dominating your division. I think your team has gelled very nicely from Melvin on down. What an exciting team.

  5. If someone told me in 2021 that we’d open 2023 with Tatis, Machado, Soto, Crone and no Hosmer, in our lineup I’d be stoked beyond reason for another playoff push. Add to that Seidler spending money like Brewster’s Millions and I can’t wait for Opening Day.

  6. I mean, even with him “slumping” in the second half of last season he was a 130 wRC+ hitter for the Padres.

Only Manny was a better bat for the Padres last year.
