Mailbag: Devils as Patrick Kane trade destination; Ducks’ biggest issue

Please no Patrick Kane.
Trading Mercer for a few months of Patrick Kane would be insanity.
Sounds like a fun idea, but Kane is technically a rental with an expiring contract and Fitz is on record saying he is looking for the opposite in a trade deadline deal. That’s not to say it can’t happen though, it just seems unlikely
I laughed really hard at the suggestion of Mercer.
Sure a young team breaking out should trade away one of those foundational arts for… one playoffs run the year they breakout.

If it’s a sign and trade that price can go up. He’s 34 and has gas in the tank but how much? Maybe 2 years?
Their time to push to trade him for a haul was a few years ago, not as he is expiring as a rental.
I’m glad the author acknowledged it’s a bad idea and was just talking about it for fun, but I agree with him and everybody else that it’s ridiculous.
Imagine paying blue chip prices for a 34 year old who would be our 6th best player
yeah we don’t need to rush, we have a good team and trading away some of those young studs for a shot at one year isn’t worth it. kane should be a target of a team like the islanders or Vegas that NEED to win now because they’re facing a massive rebuild in the near future
Kane is 34…no fracking way would I give up Mercer and a draft draft pick. We’re in really good shape as is. Let the kids keep playing

I wouldn’t trade Holtz or Mercer for Kane. He’s too old and he’s a pending UFA.
I would be open to trading one of the two for a player in their prime and playoff experience.
I’m watching this crazy Buffalo vs Columbus game with Tage Thompson scoring 5 goals. It made me think about the Ryan O’Reilly trade. Thompson is a full blown star but O’Reilly won the Conn Smythe and the cup for St Louis. I’m sure anyone would make that trade again.
We’re going to have to part with one of our young stars eventually to put us over the top.
I don’t think Kane would be the missing link to vault us to the Stanley cup. I think Palat fills that void and maybe hold steady pending injuries
Pass. Go get Meier or Terry if you really want a winger
Absolutely should not be making any moves right now except to acquire prospects. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
I would entertain Holtz + 1st + B prospect for an extended Timo
Want to stay far the fuck away from Kane do not need any blackhawks vibes in the locker room obv we dont know how or if Kane was involved in being a shithead but he had to at least know. So yeah that and him being 34 and already looking to be slowing down. Hard hard pass.
