    TLDR: Friedman and company see the spending in this offseason market as reckless so far. Apparently they came close to signing Verlander and won’t rule out signing a big name free agent later this offseason or making a splash via trade.

    Good quote from AF: “The one thing that’s been is putting ourselves in the best position to win a championship while also keeping that window open for as far as we can see out.”

    He also said this when asked if the team might benefit from an all-in approach: “This is just not the sport where that reward is the same as in other sports. The sustained success part comes — and we’ve seen over the last seven, eight years — [by] interjecting young, talented players into the mix.”

  2. He’s right, the other teams are being incredibly reckless lol. I think it’s a result of little brother mentality in the Mets and Padres and freaking out with the checkbook trying to win now, consequences he damned. Gimme a retool, reset the luxury tax year. It’s time we see the rookies anyway
