  1. >”The team I’m watching at the moment: the Yankees, because I’m
definitely picking up a lot of vibes there that, yeah they signed Aaron
Judge to that $360 million deal, but they’re working on something big.
And I wish I could tell you exactly what that was, but Carlos Correa,
let’s face it, among the available free agents, that would be the
biggest way to go. This is total speculation on my part. I
don’t have that confirmed, but I just know they’re working on something
    big and maybe it’s Carlos.”

This stream of consciousness ending in “this is total speculation” and “maybe it’s Carlos” makes me think that he was winging it, and probably drinking whisky, when he gave this quote.

  2. Anyone else getting more and more cynical with each passing day of the off season? I can’t even comprehend how much money this is.

  3. In an off-season where Trea Turner got 11/300 I find it hard to believe Correa will require 10/400. There were reports that Turner turned down 342 but we don’t know that for 100% certain and we also don’t know how many years that was / deferred money involved etc.

  4. Ehhhh Boras is probably just telling Buster to say that to try to push the dollar amount. Agents are gross.

  5. well two people who are actually plugged in, Aaron Gleeman and John Bonnes, both said that Correa hasn’t gotten an offer north of $300 million, and last year his peak offer was 10 yrs $275 million from Detroit, so i think it is fair to assume that Buster was either told/paid to say this, or he is just pulling this out of his ass. The Yankees wouldn’t pay him more than $300 million last year, so why would they, seemingly out of nowhere, give him $400 million now!? This is just nonsense. I want Correa back as a Twin very badly, but I don’t think anyone is giving him more than ~310 million.

  6. Given what Turner and Boegaerts received, I don’t think Correa would reach $400m. 10/$320-$350m is probably around the high end of what he’ll end up with. Then again, I know fuck all.

  7. Lol no. Carlos Correa isn’t commanding $400M just a season after he couldn’t get the $300M deal he was looking for. Teams will sit on their hands and wait before they do that.

  8. I feel like too many of the big spenders are out of the market at this point to hope for the kind of bidding war that could possibly get him there, not that he’s really worth that. Although this off-season has been pretty impressive.

  9. Haha imagine thinking the Yankees would spend more for Carlos Correa than they just did for Aaron Judge.

If they were fucking insane enough to do this, and I were Aaron Judge, I’d be sitting on my couch for the entirety of spring training waiting for my raise
