  1. > But one of the main reasons to be bullish on the Raptors heading into this season was the Barnes would be a better player this season than he was last, and so far he hasn’t been.

    > And there have been concerns that the fun-loving competitor who seemed to vibrate through games last season and getting under the skin of some of the sports’ biggest names – Kevin Durant, LeBron James and Nikola Jokic among them – has gone missing.

    > He was benched for the first regular season game of his career nearly two weeks ago against the Cleveland Cavaliers (the Raptors’ best defensive effort of the season) after a long stretch of uninspired play, and responded with the worst game of his career against the New Orleans Pelicans in a Raptors’ blowout loss.

    > It was at that point that Barnes was given some hard truths by Raptors president Masai Ujiri, according to multiple sources, during a meeting when the team was in Brooklyn. He responded with some strong efforts, including his two best rebounding games of the season and a line of 17 points, 11.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists on 58.3 per cent shooting over four games before his outing against Orlando.

EDIT: I should note the rest of this article isn’t really focused on this, just wanted to share this bit of reporting. Suggest people read the rest of the article.

  2. Make sure you guys read the whole article before leaving stupid hot takes, which it seems OP is fishing for.

  3. Its amazing how many articles we get about Scottie’s slump from Toronto journalists but hardly anything is written about Freds struggles.

  4. I think people are upset with him not being a superstar right away when in reality he at the very worst is the same as last season. Sophomore slumps and growing pains are real and he’ll improve in time. The team is also in flux and once he’s able to return to being more of a point forward it’ll help him and the team look better. Koloko being in the starting line up clogs the paint which is where he’s operating most for the time being as he’s not exactly a spot of shooting. It also allows other teams to focus less on koloko and more of the other four. When average to above shooters are all around Barnes, it’ll make him look better and also play into his strengths of passing

  5. looks like he had a stretch of good games after that talk. the only stinker was the Magic game. hopefully that was an anomaly.

  6. Is Masai allowed to be critical of Scottie or does one of the fans here want to go to his face and tell him that Masai isn’t a real fan and he should stop the Scottie slander?
