Between Toronto and Chicago we have 2 weeks to see if they blow up. Plenty of targets there worth picks. Other worse options will probably be there till the end too (Charlotte, San Antonio, etc).
Don’t want to over to pay Fred. Trent might be a good deal though.
I wonder if they just want draft compensation for Gary Trent Jr. I’d be stoked if we could pull off a trade that only included Pat Bev’s salary + a minimum and one of the 1sts.
Russ and 2 unprotected firsts for vanfleet and Trent? Sure

Gary Trent Jr fits our system perfectly because he gets a lot of steals and creates a lot of transition opportunities off steals, which we’re obsessed with doing since we have arguably the greatest fast break player of all time in LeBron, plus AD who is also elite on the break.
Gary Trent can also shoot so that part is self explanatory.
Right now Russell Westbrook leads our guards in steals and transition creation, but Gary Trent Jr. would come in and replace him as our #1 transition creator amongst guards, and Gary is a much better shooter.

Trent Jr. would probably cost one FRP, along with Beverley’s expiring. It’s tricky because I think Trent Jr. would be a great fit and he’s still very young. But he’s very likely to opt out of his player option this summer and he’ll be a $20+ mil player… and he’s a Klutch client so he’s definitely getting the money. If we keep Trent and Rui this summer, that’s basically all our cap space. I’d probably still make the trade.

There’s a lot of unknowns here. What is Trent’s asking price in free agency this summer? Will be opt out? Does he want to stay in LA, etc.
