  1. Nothings changed. Unless one of the top 5 paid QBs restructures, the tag is what we thought one month or six months ago.

The Ravens can’t afford to have Lamar play under the tag. He’s either re-signed or traded around March 15th or the first round of the draft.

  2. Nothing is different. He’s getting the exclusive tag and either signed long term or shipped off before the draft.

  3. I think more likely that Lamar is traded, I just don’t see them restucting and cutting players just to tag someone on a 1yr rental

  4. He’s getting traded guys. The Ravens aren’t going to budge on their fully guarantee stance.

Lamar either caves or is gone, its really that simple

  5. How much more than two first round picks can we get for Lamar in a realistic trade scenario? It would be a gamble to go non-exclusive but it would at least allow Lamar to gauge the market. Maybe it’s not what he thinks it is and we could sign him for maybe less than the supposed $250 million guaranteed. I don’t really see a scenario where they trade him. I could see the exclusive tag followed shortly by a signing or non-exclusive and we match the best offer. They’re not gonna trade him.

  6. This is old news/we knew it would be $30-45M for one of the tags.

If I was EDC I would push for the exclusive franchise tag worth $45M, that way Lamar earns a fair salary, and we get more than two 1st round picks if it ever comes down to trading him. I don’t see that happening, I see Lamar playing for $45M or signing a long term deal.

  7. If it comes to the Tag he is gone via trade anyway so it doesn’t matter. Qe wouldn’t be stupid enough to try the non exclusive someone would easily offer more rhan that.

  8. It all depends on if we feel that we could get more than two first rounders in a trade. If not, might as well do the non-exclusive and save a ton of money and keep the repeat tag base lower. Repeat tagging makes a lot more sense than some $50M a year fully guaranteed deal if you go non-exclusive.

But I’d take two first rounders for sure. That’s a fire deal. Plus you clear up all that cap space.

  9. basically it’s really coming down to they have to sign him long term or do salary cap gymnastics with the entire roster and tag him. i guess the other option is to trade him but that’s a whole other can of worms

  10. > Trade lamar for a bazillion picks
    > draft/FA/trade entire new offense with them
    > Pick up Stetson Bennett for cheap (is older than father time; arrested recently)
    > Win superbowl

  11. Personally think the non-exclusive tag would be a mistake. Sure it is cheaper and we get 2firsts if he goes elsewhere, but he is easily worth more than two first and some team will scoop him up no problem – and if that team isn’t picking top 10 then we are getting seriously screwed on value

  12. The non-exclusive tag is irrelevent. I know there are teams out there daring us to place that tag on Lamar. No way the front office does that.
