*Leonhard. Pretty sure one year the Madden announcers even emphasized the H in a really weird way.
JIM LIONHEART
He was the QB of that great defense. Our current secondary would be the best in the league if we had smart safety play.
I remember being confused as to why Rex would be so committed to bringing such a short safety with him when he was hired. I found out soon enough.
Unsung hero of Rex’s tenure
One of my all-time favorite Jets. Smart, fearless, reliable. He RAN that defense.
Wonder if that 2010 season ends differently if he doesn’t break his leg.
Loved this guy. He played hard. I also love these unis. If you could just incorporate these unis w/ the 80s Jets logo, I’d be happy
OP here. Butchered his last name. My bad. Feeling worse than Kellen Winslow in a Target parking lot rn.
Who else got that 36 white jersey?!
I’ve always believed that if he had not gotten hurt we would have been in a second super bowl.
God, those unis were great. 😔
Jim Leonhard was a big piece of our defense back in 09 and 2010. One of my favorite Jets from that era, it was a shame he kept getting injured at the worst times.
Also always loved the all white storm trooper look. Miss those uniforms.
One of the smartest players I ever saw play for the Jets
Shout-out to Christina Applegate!
Here’s my Leonhard story… loved him when I was younger. No one I ever knew had his jersey and I thought, I’d love to get a jersey for someone unique like him. Got his jersey for my birthday, then wore it to the game the following week… he gets injured and is never a jet again. I still feel sad about that. So much so that I didn’t buy a jersey till this past season when I got a Breece Hall jersey… sadly we know how that worked out.
When I was a Boy Scout my dad and I designed a jets themed pinewood derby car. We were car 36 and the top was designed after him
We win in 2010 if he didn’t get hurt during the playoffs
He was great. My personal belief is that there is no way Leonhard gives up this bomb in 2012 if he’s on the field. He was so good at being aware of where to be on plays just like this one for his entire career
I think we picked up Ashton hoping he’d be another Jim…. Not the case lol
OK but watching this guy or Eric Smith try to cover Gronk and Hernandez was a joke.
One of my favorite memories was Saturday before the Divisional matchup against New England in January 2011. There was a fan rally at MetLife, got to go on to the field and hang out. Kris Jenkins and Leonhard were there due to them being inactive because of injuries. Jim was doing an interview with a local NY sports station and he was greeting fans after. I got right up to the front, mind you I was the only guy there with a Jim Leonhard jersey, I was the very first fan he interacted with, got him to sign my jersey. Still have it til this day. Kris Jenkins also ran by me and let me say, that man is massive. I was 17 at the time and I’m pretty sure his one leg was bigger than my whole body haha one of my best Jets memories
