  1. Hey y’all I’m going to try something new here. Since there’s limited space on captions I have to provide a lot more context in the comments of my post which can sometimes be hard to read and understand how it relates to the photo. So I’ll be providing less context in the comments while still trying to be as effective as possible in telling the story behind some of these photos.

Bumbry only appearing in about 110 games and still winning ROY showcases how talented the whole team was. Bumbry wasn’t the only Oriole to receive ROY votes either. With Rich Coggins also receiving a 1st place vote

Let me know your thoughts on the formatting or any changes you’d like to see. I really like doing this but I’m still trying to figure out a style of presentation that I like.

  2. My son did Al Bumby’s baseball camp last summer. When I signed him up, I assumed it would be something like where Al Bumbry slaps his name on the camp and shows up for 15 minutes on the 1st morning or something brief.

But no, Al was out there in the heat with the kids all day, all week. Loading coolers and gear into trucks and everything. Al is 75 years old. My kid loved the camp and Al was great.

  3. Back in those days there were great pickup basketball games at the Towson YMCA. Al Bumbry would play in the offseason, a nice guy all the way. So would a lot of the Baltimore pro athletes.

Can’t quite say the same (actually yes I can) about when Mike Curtis played in the Colts’ offseason. He played basketball like it was football.
