  1. Following sub rules, I won’t repost the entire article, but the rankings from Wheeler are as follows:

    **Tier 1**

    1. David Jiricek
    2. Denton Mateychuk

    **Tier 2**

    3. Jordan Dumais
    4. Kirill Marchenko
    5. Corson Cuelemans
    6. Stanislav Svozil
    7. Luca Del Bel Belluz

    **Tier 3**

    8. Dimitri Voronkov
    9. Liam Foudy
    10. Daniil Tarasov
    11. James Malatesta
    12. Sergei Ivanov
    13. Sam Knazko
    14. Tim Berni
    15. Guillaume Richard

Wheeler was particularly impressed with the Jackets’ last draft and noted the strength of their prospects moving from 6th last year up to 3rd this year *despite* both Johnson and Sillinger graduating from the pool.

  2. Alright, so I’ve had a busy year and haven’t been able to follow as closely as in years past. So take my thoughts with a grain of salt. That being said, I feel like we’ve played this “just wait for the prospects” game for more than a couple of years. As great as it is to have a solid farm system…can someone realistically give any kind of an estimate on when we should be able to turn that into NHL-level success (read: legitimately, consistently contending in the playoffs)?

I don’t think I’m too alone in feeling a little impatient, but I can understand doing things “the right way” to sustain long-term success (assuming that’s our goal here). At the same time, I’m old enough to at least understand any kind of investment should have some sort of payoff.

  3. I always love Wheeler’s writeups.

Stoked to hear Ceulemans is still projecting well. He comes from the the Brooks Bandits system that is really forward thinking for defenseman but some of his production at Wisconsin has been deflating. Unfortunate that him going to college probably excluded him from WJC selection but we’ll have to see what happens next year. He’s in that tools and aggressive place like Jiricek but both of them are so tall that they will need to get much stronger/more explosive to be able to continue being aggressive at the blue line

Dumais is still on that too good to be true trajectory. He’ll be interesting to follow in the coming years.

A lot of movement coming for RD in the coming years and a giant Gudbranson in the way. Wonder how Jarmo is going to play this in the off-season.

  4. After like 3 years of having no real defense prospects in this system, it’s awesome to see how loaded we are at that spot.

Just need that 1C in the next draft…
