Free Agent Running Backs: Is Zeke hoping for a contract restructuring?

Ezekiel Elliott’s performance in 2022 make it hard to justify his $10.9 million base salary in 2023. Is he hoping a restructure keeps him in Dallas or willing to compete in a highly competitive free agency.

Pollard is looking for a payday following his 2022 though an injury last game may have teams worried. Does Dallas let him loose?

Would you let Zeke and Pollard go and target another free agent?

  1. From what I’ve heard, Zeke wants to stay in Dallas and is willing to take a pay cut. How big of one is another question. I would tag Pollard and hope to sign him later. And if Zeke is able to take a big pay cut, i would bring him back too.

  2. There are so many UFA RBs this year you would have to be an idiot to overpay. Lots of them are low miles and good blockers. Don’t sign Zeke

  3. I would only be interested in Jacobs and Hunt, I don’t think the Cowboys would pay either of them over Pollard and paying another RB plus the dead money of cutting Zeke doesn’t sound like a food idea, if you can restructure Zeke for cheap then we will have space to bring maybe a WR or CB which are more pressing needs

  4. Zeke either takes a huge pay cut to a reasonable salary or gets cut no restructuring. We don’t need to be moving any money down the road for him.

  5. Dallas can just sign me as RB LOL… I can avg as much yards a carry as washed Zeke did

  6. We could honestly let both go and sign a couple cheap RB’s. I can’t see Perine and Scott costing too much. Breida, Mattison?

  7. Zeke is likely back, Pollard is likely out unless he gets no bites on the open market.
Assuming someone bites, Dallas should just draft another RB. At what spot? Debatable.

Restructure or pay cut Zeke? We’ll see. Most here don’t like that, but Zeke’s longevity, durability, and availability by not suffering a major injury/missing lots of games to this point (*knock on wood*) isn’t common at RB these days.

Dallas isn’t going to be big players in FA, they’ve got to take care of their own and it makes little sense to spend what will be limited valuable cap on others used goods given that.

  8. Let Pollard go, restructure zeke to teach a few yung’uns how to be a team player and score goal line tds.

  9. Restructure Zeke to under what his cap hit would be to cut him. Sign a FA rb for cheap. Draft another back. Sign another rookie udfa. I’d rather pay Zeke on the roster than pay him and not have him. I’m letting pollard walk as I’m not making the mistake of signing a rb to another large contract.

  10. Didn’t they say the plan was to franchise TP? If so I doubt that means they’ll be looking for a high profile RB in free agency unless they’re cheap. Sounds like they’re gonna restructure Zeke’s deal though.
