16. You know, if he stays in good fettle, he’s got a long, productive career ahead of him. I’m not a Wentz hater — he was wonderful for that one year, and got us where we needed to be. But he was so used to being Top Dog that when he got hurt and had to watch someone else’s glory become the narrative, I think it really messed him up mentally.

    Hurts on the other hand didn’t sail in with the “hero” label stuck to him from day one. People were skeptical, he had to work, and it took a while to show. That kind of player has legs. He doesn’t need what the shrinks call “external validation.” He finds his own motivation. As long as he stays in good shape, he’s got a wonderful career ahead, come what may.
