  1. Pay the man his max money. He’s incredible to watch and actually makes us contenders

At the very worst, there will *always* be another team that will want him if it goes sideways

  2. Yes, but is anyone in the NBA comfortable giving a volatile player like Kyrie a full max 4 year deal? Brooklyn didnt do it, I dont think the Lakers will, not the Suns, and certainly not us since we are risking Lukas future here if we do that. I dont think we will offer him that type of contract and thats why I dont think Kyrie stays here after this season because he will take the same money we would offer him (2/3 year deal) to instead play in LA or Phoenix and we wont go the extra mile in expending to keep him.

  3. Can Phoenix create the cap space to outright sign him or are they just hoping Dallas will take CP3? Because I think we’d be comfortable letting him walk instead of taking on Paul but maybe I’m wrong

  4. This will cause psychological damage to Windhorst. Woj has to be a more sympathetic colleague.

  5. The suns absolutely can’t outright sign him. Next year they have $145 million guaranteed to Ayton, KD, Booker and CP3, even if they cut Paul. And, we don’t have to trade him there, even if he wants it, and the suns will have zero picks to trade.

  6. Of course he’s going to re-sign for max money. That was the only reason he orchestrated the trade. He’s going to try and behave until he can secure the bag.

The question is how long he’ll be happy and sane after he signs that contract. At the first taste of adversity, he’ll ask for a trade again. This dude won a title with Lebron and asked for a trade. He played with his best friend in Durant and asked for a trade. .

  7. We are chilling whatever happens. Lakers can’t offer Kyrie the max with their new signing and Phoenix would have to give up Ayton or CP3.

Either we keep Kyrie, we create space for another max player, or get Ayton.

    All 3 scenarios are good

  8. **Me day of trade:** “Okay lets just see how this works”

**Also Me after one game:** “Max Him Out”

    – flawed human dumb dumb brain

  9. Having Kai and Luka as our two main stars and we build role players around them. Yeah easy chip within a few years

  10. We can offer him the most money and that’s the reason he left BKN in the first place. I’m not worried about that part. Just gotta hope Kyrie stays happy here and out of the negative spotlight as much as he can

  11. If Dallas makes it to the second round, pay him. I think we get too caught up in the “championship or bust” mentality especially coupled with the phobia that Luka will have seen enough and want out, there’s nothing particularly shameful about being a perennial playoff contender. If the roster as constructed can take on the likes of Phoenix, the Clippers, and the Grizzlies… there’s no reason to suggest that Dallas isn’t on the up and up *even though* technically we’d be going down from making the conference finals last season but the league is so different now than it was last year.

  12. For me it’s “years not dollars” that matter… if we can give him a 2 or 3 year max contract with a player option that would be a massive win.

  13. Mavs did say they were interested in Ayton in the summer. If Kyrie wants to join Durant in Phoenix this might all end up in a sign and trade in the summer. Ayton for Kyrie. That would suck.

  14. Let’s goooooo kyrie and Luka is going to be AWESOME to watch. I fell in love with basketball watching Nash&Dirk. Now I have a son of my own who might get to grow up watching Luka&Kyrie I’m so pumped

  15. Of course he will, everyone takes the money, espn is just stirring shit. Remember in the summer they were trying to convince everyone that Kyrie will decline his option and play for the MLE with the Lakers. Couple of millions, maybe but nobody is taking 15 mil haircut.

  16. I believe he either resigns if offered the full max over 4 years or he wants to play in LA which would end up in a sign and trade with D-Lo going to the Mavs.

  17. Kyrie has played one game with Mavs, hasn’t even played with Luka yet, and dude already has the fan base wrapped around his little pinky. Reading the comments, you would think Kyrie is just an innocent guy who was done wrong by his teams and the media.

  18. I have been trying to tell people this. The internet is dumb. The suns can’t pay Kyrie either without offloading CP3 or another star.

  19. I think the holdup comes from we hsve seen plsyer empowerment become such an issue that players will go where they want, when they want, reyardless of contract.

And Kyrie of course has as shakey of a history as anybody. Hell he and KD pre determined Brooklyn was their spot, both got all the money they could get and even got their bum friend paid 40 mil. All that and he acted a fool the entire time, tying Brooklyn’s hands ultimately.

  20. I think people that think there will be a fit problem between Luka and Kyrie are stupid. He will look so good beside Luka and Luka would have such a easy time playing that you will have no choice but to pay him.
