  1. “I, uh, didn’t say anything to the team, because I’m a dope. Also, we are cancelling practice tomorrow, guys need to get away from the rink.”

  2. There might not be a worse coach in the league when it comes to adjustments or shaking things up. See his entire playoff coaching history, he’s never won a playoff round at any level as a head coach. 10-43 record. Surprisingly 6-11 in the NHL but 4-32 in the WHL+AHL.

  3. Line changes probably a good idea but it won’t change that this team isn’t ready. Some of you guys are doing massive amounts of copium if you think this team has the guys to succeed this year.

Also the people calling Dean a shitty coach are out to lunch. Go back to your couch.

  4. He’s honest, calling out the structure, or fundamentals, being tossed aside, causing the turnovers and odd-man rushes.

Where does the fault of this lack of structure lie? Sure, the players have to do the things, the coaches say the things, but a team in this position relies upon their true leaders to make the flip happen. Where are these leaders and are they being effective?

Much is made about ‘team dynamics,’ are we seeing teething pains from team composition changes? Are there too many ‘strong’ characters, all competing to be the ‘leader?’ Stuff like this can be a fragile thing, great when it clicks together and tough to get right when the pieces don’t fit easily enough.

We sure need a couple big scoops of the belief in ourselves we had last year.

I’m hoping this is a transitory period, one that ends quickly due to all the experience in that locker room.

  5. Fire this bum. Being mediocre is what keeps his job and that’s unacceptable. No good lineup decisions or seeing bad play until it’s way too late. Terrible coach and no one seems to address it.

  6. In all of his comments, did he specifically address the need to score goals? I heard a lot of buzzwords and talk about the defense, but a huge problem is our lack of scoring. Talking structure is fine as long as the structure works in the first place.

  7. What bothered me so much about this game was the lack of heart. They weren’t even trying and that’s something I don’t think I’ve ever seen from them. It was incredibly depressing.

I don’t care if they make playoffs or not. Realistically, there are only a couple of teams each year that are going to make it to the cup, there are a couple that will be in the basement and the rest will be in the middle. We are usually in the middle. We may never see Stanley. Everything has to align perfectly for championships to happen.
