  1. While I agree Doug probably deserved it more, Daboll definitely did more with less. He managed to make DJ look competent even with the worst receiving core in football, got Saquans career back on track, and coached his team to multiple one score victories.

  2. As a Niners fan, I’m at peace with Daboll getting it, but Doug definitely deserved to be in the top 3 along with Shanahan.

  3. Correct me if I’m wrong but Doug wasn’t even at the award show last night , right? While this could be because he was already informed Daboll won, I’d like to think he declined the invite with his big balls to spend time crunching film.

Who cares about a dumb regular season award, all we care about is the Lombardi now.

  4. Daboll is a first time coach, Doug is a superbowl winner. Both hugely overachieved team expectations, but Daboll also hugely overachieved expectations of him as a coach specifically. We already knew Doug was good.

Tbh I don’t think either of them should have won it though, to me the obvious coach of the year was Shanahan for not missing a beat with all the QB injuries during the season. The 49ers dominated in the regular season despite losing TWO quarterbacks to season-ending injuries.

  5. Daboll turned Daniel Jones from the punchline of every analysts joke in the nation, into a franchise QB who is about to make $35+ million a year. They were predicted to have less then 5 wins this year. And if you compare rosters, you’d be hard pressed to find 5 positions that you’d take the giants player over a jags starter. What helped daboll as well was the hot start the giants got off to, which stuck in voters heads all season. Where as the jags didn’t get hot until the end. Daboll also beat doug head to head in Jacksonville this season, as the underdog team.

  6. Don’t forget he was also re-building the management-labor relationship destroyed by Coughlin.
