That said, yes… If a guy that the team likes falls to our pick at **23** we’re absolutely going to consider taking him. But dude’s probably gonna run a sub-4.5 40 and be gone by pick 15.
Of course they “could.” Every team “could.”
We will most likely trade out of the 1st round to get more picks.
They could draft me, even.
I get the feeling they won’t go out of their way to draft a QB, but it should certainly be an option if a player drops to #23. Its early but arguably the Vikings should sit at #23 to see if any blue-chip players fall. One of the high-end CBs, WRs, or a QB all would provide value and equally are premium positions.
Major duh on this one
I kinda like taking Hendon hooker if he falls to the third round and we can teaks back our pick at 23 to get 1-2 more 2nd-3rd round picks. Lots of good day 2/3 value in this draft
The Vikings are set up well to take on a project QB – final year of Cousins’ contract (for now), premier WR, solid receiving TE, bookend OTs, and a young, offensive-minded HC who was an NFL QB.
The issues are 1) finding the right prospect, and 2) the many other needs on the roster. Anthony Richardson gets discussed in the sub a lot because he’s the only top prospect with any real chance of falling to us, and that’s due to a litany of questions about his ability as a passer. I don’t really love any mid/late prospect in this class. If Richardson doesn’t magically fall to us, taking defense or more likely trading down seems like the move.
It would be wise to take a shot on Richardson.
We need to start thinking about a successor. Kirk is 35 and the drop off could honestly happen at any point. I don’t think it’s realistic to believe he’s going to be able to continue to take a pounding and not miss games or have it affect him at that age
All I can say is that I’m extremely happy we have Darrisaw over Fields.
I think we most likely trade down, but I mean I wouldn’t hate it or be super surprised. I love me some Perc Thuggins as much as the next guy but he is going to be 35 this year. Sooner or later we’re going to need a young QB unless we want to go back to having random bridge QBs every year
They could draft one every year. The media persons who make these posts have no idea that the Vikings have limited picks this year. They have to invest in defense and O-line, period. You take a QB at #1, you do not get an additional pick until the 3rd round, so basically no chance of improving defense or OL.
Also, they could not
Hendon Hooker plz
I have a feeling we either will or will not draft a QB this year
“Vikings could trade for Patrick Mahomes this offseason”
QB is going to be a 2024 draft. Too many needs, not enough picks, and we have one or two more years of cheap JJ.
This team clearly has a plan pathed out, no need to deviate unless they know they have patty Mahomes sitting there.
They could also take a kicker in the 1st round. This report doesn’t say anything we didn’t already know.
