In 2007, Barry Bonds hit 28 homers in 340 AB’s. That was his last year, he had no knees, and was a shell of his former self. Since then, NOBODY in the entire NL has hit more dongs in <350 ABs – other than another Giants lefty slugger, Brandon Belt 2021, who hit 29 in 325 AB’s!

  1. Man I miss watching Barry out there. Absolutely 1 of the GOATS. Him and Griffey JR were always my favorite to watch.

  2. Kills me that Belt broke his finger on a pitch the day after hitting #29, since he certainly would’ve gone on to surpass 30 and break the Giants’ 30-HR season curse

  3. Yep, Bonds was slow AF but definitely could have played much longer, on hitting stats alone. In the end there was sort of an awkward shuffle and he was retired (though he offered to keep playing for league minimum) without much fanfare. I saw his first and last game in SF! Last game was about half full.

  4. Pujols hit 24 in 307 at bats this past year at the same age. I’d be curious if he could have hit another 4 with an additional 43 AB’s
