From Friedman’s latest 32 Thoughts article:

“22. Vladislav Namestnikov waived his no-trade to go to the Jets. I think he had other options, but was content to go there. “

  1. What a gem. I have all the time in the world for players that sign here long term and/or waive a NMC to come here.

  2. The boys need to get their shit together for our new friend. Let’s not disappoint him.

  3. I’ve got so much respect for him. Not everyone wants to go to Winnipeg. However, my idea of hell would be somewhere like Anaheim. I couldn’t deal with the constant heat and humidity.

  4. If he is willing to take a chance here, they we should support him and the team.

  5. Love Vladdy as well, it really was a great acquisition, can’t say I have seen him make a poor play yet and he killed it in the centre when he got the chance last game.

I hope we can pick up some wins for both him and Nino who are working their arses off.

  6. Do these guys just put Winnipeg into the NMC part of their contracts by default or what?

It is a little goofy that players have this ability. Obviously the NHL will never apply pressure to the PA in bargaining to get rid of the clause since it’s probably only us and maybe to a lesser extent Calgary, Ottawa and Edmonton that it really causes headaches for.
