  1. Finally some good injury news!!! I support whoever our QB will be week 1. If Brock needs more time or if Lance takes a huge step up this offseason, I will support him also. We are in a great situation now!

  2. Whats the hope for Lance now?

A stellar backup, lights it up every preseason and every time we put him in garbage time? Kids got potential…

  3. Lance is a good kid and a very athletic as most fans say he is.

I would like to keep him on the team and use him as a slot receiver or a tight end.

  4. Lance is going to start. There is no reason to rush Brock, and we get to see what Lance has.

  5. Didn’t Delhomme come back in 7 months with TJ?! Also Mullens came back from the same surgery in 5 months. This dude will be back sooner than fans expect

  6. I don’t want to see Brock rush through his rehab. He has a long career in front of him. I’d like to see him do this right, taking all the time he needs, and then come back when he’s at full strength. Trey needs to manage the job until Brock is fully ready. No short cuts.

(To be clear: I believe Brock should be QB1 and Trey QB 2. Trey would start until Brock can take over. Brock earned the job.)

  7. Considering we needed 5 QBs last season, we should probably acquire a 3rd and 4th now.

  8. Getting Lance in there will definitely work for us. It will make opposing teams question what to plan for.

  9. If Brock Purdy is healthy and ready to go, he’s the week 1 starter, no question in my mind. You let the doctors make this decision, and if they say he’s ready, he’s the guy, you gain nothing by starting Lance or anyone else.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Nick Mullens have this same surgery and come back in 5 months? If he’s back in 5 months, Purdy would only miss the start of training camp, but he could even play in a preseason game. Every person is different, and every person heals at a different rate, so Mullen’s recovery should not put expectations on Purdy, but still, if it happens, Purdy has to be the guy.

I don’t get all the pro-Lance content I’ve seen on this forum recently. He’s still a terrific young player, but Purdy is clearly the better long-term QB option. The thing about Purdy is that the things he excelled at last year are things that the surgery won’t affect, and the most likely downside of the surgery, a lack of arm strength, was already Purdy’s weakness anyway.

The only long-term concern I have about Purdy is that there is something about the game that he can’t see, and that defensive coordinators eventually figure him out and exploit him. NFL defensive coordinators have traditionally been really good at negative size/speed/athletic traits advantages, but split second processing speed is the kind of advantage that you can’t really scheme around, and Purdy has it.

The other possibility is that after suffering his first massive career injury, that Purdy comes back shell-shocked and is unable to play with the fearlessness he had before. In any case, it’s best we find out as soon as possible.

  10. I want everybody to have someone in their life who looks at them the way that GP13 looks at CMC

  11. lol brock needs more time to develop than. the guy who hasn’t developed, you wasted a top 5 draft pick and it’s time to move on.
