[Field Yates] The Chiefs have converted $12M of QB Patrick Mahomes’ 2023 roster bonus into a signing bonus, creating $9.6M in cap space, per source. More flexibility for the champs throughout free agency.

How much cap do we have now including our two new additions
Heyooooo
That’s my quarterback
I wonder what this yearly meeting is like with Veach and Mahomes. “Hey bud, I’d like to dip into well again… what do you think?”

Tunsil, DHOP, Mike Evans… something big coming
I don’t think this means anything big, sadly. They needed the room just to sign Jawaan Taylor and Charles Omenihu.
Chiefs should have around $10m in salary cap room after this, and don’t have any DTs and want to add another WR; not to mention that they need money for rookies and reserve salary cap.
But Mahomes Contract was supposed to Cripple the Chiefs
Very interesting. They could have done 20 million more but held off on that.
DHop coming
For the Rookie contracts ?
WR incoming 👀
i’m bricked up brent leach send help, unveil the legendary signing my honored gm
#PREPARE TO BE WHELMED
GM Brian Leach, you have the floor
I’m seeing that we have 16.4MM in cap space on overthecap and 17.2MM on spotrac. So should we have at least 26MM available now??
You watch Mahomes and his agent operate and look around the league and see how these qbs fumble everything 😎
Veach can’t cut Jackson Mahomes 😭
The last time Veach did this was assumed to be for going after OBJ (WR) but ended up being KT instead. This just looks like more proactive work to keep $5-7MM free for an unexpected player available or 2nd phase free agents (post draft).
