NFL free agency report cards: Steelers B+

  1. Beefing the line was huge for us for Pickett. Wish we kept our backfield in tact but I don’t think we are worse off really woth PP.

  2. You’d think with Lamar Jackson being released they’d have a lower grade

    >! DB Lamar that is !<

  3. What’s the conversion rate of off-season report card grades to wins the following season??

  4. I would agree! Nothing earth shattering, most likely made the team better though. Would getting edmunds back push this to an A- then? Or stay B+

  5. Only 3 teams with a higher grade than us. Seems pretty good. I’m a little surprised the Lions are so low after everyone hyping up their signings recently.

  6. B+ sounds right to me. I’m very, very pleased with free agency. The last few years our cap situation was so tight that most of the holes got plugged with some questionable players with zero upside on short risky deals. Now we got some guys with futures, or with an insane pedigree.

It feels like an actual talent improvement instead of last minute scrambling to make sure they didn’t have to get desperate on draft day.

  7. Steelers will never get an A because we don’t make splashy moves.
Then after this coming season and the 7th trophy is in Yinzburgh, they will have a fluff piece and regrade our offseason moves to a B+

  8. We’ll see how it works.

    * Still need an upgrade at ~~RT~~ LT.
    * ILB is still suspect IMO.
    * Are they gonna pay Highsmith? Because if not they need to draft his replacement this year.
    * Obviously, CB is still a need.

And all of this depends on Kenny being *near* elite. The AFC is stacked at the QB position like no time I can remember in my lifetime. If Kenny is a game manager who can only eek out wins and doesn’t really stand a chance against Burrow, Mahomes, etc., then it won’t matter.

  9. What did Cinci do, I remember reading a few people say that Baltimore and Cinci are messing up so far this offseason allowing Pittsbugh or even Cleveland to be better next year

  10. I hate the whole grade thing nfl analysts do during free agency and right after the draft. Like those grades mean nothing because a lot of these guys who went to new teams haven’t played a snap for the team yet. Like once next season is over you can put out these grades about the previous draft and free agency cause it then tells us how those signings and rookies did.

  11. This will all be irrelevant once Pickett hoists that Lambardi above his head in a few months

  12. Steelers probably aren’t done – I would expect some moves around the time of the draft, though I don’t expect anything splashy. I also think people don’t realize the significance of Seumalo yet.

  13. Shouldn’t this be a zero sum scoring system? There are way too many high grades.

  14. This doesn’t make a whole bunch of sense honestly. I like our grade, but others don’t make much sense to me. Packers and jets are incomplete because of qb, but ravens is a D. Bears have had a great off season so far but they have the same grade as us. Cowboys somehow have an A?

  15. Would love to see what we could get for Dionte Johnson before the draft. Of the 5 worst Wrs in YPT, DJ was 4th in the NFL. Number 2 is Claypool and we were smart enough to deal him.
