I’ve met Paul twice and on both occasions, we talked for a bit, he walked away to finish whatever he was doing, and then he CAME BACK to talk some more. Being nice to fans is one thing but making that much time for a complete stranger completely floored me. Truly good dude

Byrd is such a good dude. I literally met him in a grocery store and he was completely cool and normal.
We were trying to get up to the Infiniti Club right before a game and Byrd swooped in via security and stole our elevator forcing us to wait one elevator longer.
I jokingly said, “PAUL BYRD! You just swiped my elevator!”
He gave this sad and visibly uncomfortable face and mouthed “I am soo..sooo.sorry…” as the doors closed. He legit felt bad about it. I just thought it was funny that he was the one who took it.
Ironically, rode in an elevator with him in a different building after that the next season when I had my kids and wife with me well before a game. He engaged the kids and was saying hi to them and making conversation to my son because he had a Braves jersey on.. as we walked off the elevator I told him about the last time I saw him it also involved an elevator. He didn’t remember it obviously, but once again began apologizing profusely. I reassured him I was not offended at all and actually thought it was funny.
Legitimately a super person. Hope he sticks around for a while after this season of their life!

Met both of them randomly in a shop one weekend in AL. I believe they were in town to watch his sons minor league game? Really genuine, nice folks. Hate to read something like this happened, but you know there’s a lot of love in that household.
