The 9th was intense. Very good for the game. After McNeil drew that epic walk, Betts connects with the 6th highest exit velo in the game but grounds out into a DP because he got on top of it.
Trout v. Ohtani was intense. Felt like strikeout or HR was going to happen. The balls to throw a 3-2 slider. Amazing.
Edit: I used the word intense twice.
It had to be either Ohtani striking out Trout or Trout hitting one out.
Ohtani is going to cost us like $650M.

So is Japan just better than us? Next classic needs to have a “dream team” moment. Max, deGrom, Judge, and everyone else comes in and blows out everyone by 10+ each game.
It’s such a sigh of relief to see and know baseball isn’t on the last legs it’s been accused of these past few years. This was a big one.
The sport of Baseball is global and its great. That was fun to watch. I was rooting for USA but you got to give some respect to Japan. Solid game.
Leave it to a Dodger to hit into a double play with the tying run on base in the 9th
I went to the quarter final against Italy at the Tokyo Dome. All the players on team Japan are awesome. I’d take any of them on the dodgers.
Manfred was in the background rubbing his hands together and laughing manically while watching this game.

If there’s anything I’ve learned from this tournament, it’s that Ohtani needs to be in the playoffs.
Slashed .435/.606/.739 as a batter with 10 RBI in 7 games
Tied single WBC record with 10 walks
Hit a 448-foot HR (tied for the longest of the tournament)
Went 2-0 with a save as a pitcher; had 1.86 ERA and 11 K in 9 2/3 IP
Struck out Mike Trout to end championship game
If Ohtani doesn’t get into the post season this year……….welcome the newest Dodger…….it’s SHO….time!!
I couldn’t believe Will didn’t get an at bat tonight. He’s come up big in those moments so many times. Mullins looked overwhelmed by the pressure. There’s a reason he plays for Orioles. Then pinch running with Bobby Witt but not letting him steal? He was top 10 in SBs. So of course they hit into a DP. DeRosa was terrible. I was getting Roberts PTSD 😑
Man what a fun team, Dodgers should seriously consider getting one of there guys, of course Ohtani would be amazing, but his price just went up and I’ll take anyone of these guys, great fundamental baseball IQ is needed on the Dodgers.
I was at that game. Loudest and most packed i’ve seen Marlin’s Stadium. Definitely worth it.
So is Ohtani definitely going to the Dodgers after this season?

The way the NFL ended this year and now the WBC!! Man I hope we get a great WORLD SERIES!!! Even with all the new stupid changes they’ve made!
The tournament was baseball at its best. Broad, inclusive, expansive and competitive. Japan was the best team – undefeated in tournament play despite their travel. So many terrific moments. I wish this would happen sooner than every 4 years.
