> Lazerus: The “Yes! Yes! Yes!” chant after goals was the best thing in the NHL. That it immediately followed one of the very worst goal songs in the NHL made it all the better.

Reader comments:

– “The Islanders use of Joe Satriani feels so dated and uninspired, like they went to a bunch of Wild or Rangers games in 2006 and said ‘If it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for us.’ So much good music has come from Long Island. Why choose to sound so generic?”

– “The entire Islander fanbase is begging for a new goal song but can’t figure out what it would be.”

  1. The “Yes Yes Yes” is fantastic. Joe Satriani before it sounds awful. I wish we’d just bring back Rock and Roll Part II or try something unique.

  2. Unpopular opinion, I bleed blue and orange but I’d love to see both the chant and the song go

  3. People seriously do complain about anything these days. It’s a complete package with The horn, The song, the Woo’s, the “dun dun dun” and the Yes Chant. I mean it sure seems like everyone in attendance loves it. Who did they pole to get any kind of negative reactions?

However, I do miss some aspects like the Austin Powers or Quagmire soundbites because I grew up with those being a part of the goal celebration.

  4. Ok hear me out – last 15-20 seconds of pressure by Billie Joel followed by the yes yes yes. Go listen to it and tell me it isn’t perfect.
