  1. There is always a difference between support/tolerance and endorsement.

If your perspective is that wearing a pride jersey is endorsement, then it sounds more understandable why some may not want to wear one.

  2. You’re a literal multimillionaire. Move your family out of a failing shit hole country to one where they won’t be murdered if you wear a jersey. Seems pretty simple.

  3. we all know that homophobes are just pissed cause they can’t get laid or maintain relationships. they are sad….. but also lame. like an injured duck

  4. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I’m bi, I don’t care, respect their choices.

  5. When did professional hockey players start having to be activists on top of athletes? This whole thing is insanity. Talking down on players who have said NOTHING negative about homosexuality, yet are viewed as pieces of shit because they don’t want to wear a rainbow jersey? Ridiculous.

  6. Waiting for someone to grow some balls and refuse to wear a military appreciation warm up jersey.

  7. Im over this narrative at this point. Wear a jersey don’t wear a jersey I don’t care. Playoffs are a week away and the headlines are filled with who’s wearing or not wearing pride night jerseys. This is just another example of the NHL having the most ineffective PR/marketing strategies

  8. Who cares? Seriously it’s not like this matters at all and haven’t we had enough “guy doesn’t wear jersey he’s a homophobe scumbag” focus on something positive for once

  9. So is choosing to not wear a jersey now just as homophobic is screaming slurs now? Who cares what he thinks if he isn’t going out and attacking/harassing the community. The outrage is overblown and people look to be offended at every corner.

  10. Pride night should remain in the stands. Give a flag to anyone who wants a flag to wave and mention something during one of the breaks. Stop using professional athletes as pawns in social justice causes. It takes away from the game.

  11. How about focusing on those who are taking part and the night itself. If they’re so hell bent on making it about inclusion and feeling welcome, talk about that. All this does is create more divide. Who gives a shit about Gurianov.

  12. I for one think they should punish these Russian homophobes by having each and every one of them stand in a circle naked and simultaneously jerk off while looking at one another. Whoever cums has to wear the jersey with a giant wad of cum on their face throughout warmups.

  13. If you call players bigots for not wearing a pride jersey, might aswell call everyone that doesn’t purchase the jerseys bigots. Reddit logic

  14. Every single player that makes the choice is a major headline. Can we just focus on hockey?

  15. Cry about it more. Hey guess what the other players are wearing jerseys. Everyone at the Jets/Flames game wore rainbow jerseys nobody gave a shit. People drawn to negativity like flies to shit.

  16. I’m going to be honest. I don’t fucking care. Look, if it were me, I would wear the jersey. I support all people and their choices. It’s none of my business who someone loves and I like the idea of making hockey inclusive for all people. Gay/straight or squiggly idgaf but because I support all people and their choices it means I have to show that same respect for someone who isn’t comfortable aligning themselves with a cause. That’s just how I feel about it.

  17. Stopped caring long ago. Not wearing a shirt for 20 minutes isn’t a sign of bigotry. Intolerance is a one way street now more than ever.

  18. Imagine being so soft you’re offended by players not wearing a jersey

  19. For fucks sake man it’s only a jersey you are not being asked yo skate in a tutú

  20. I care but I also don’t care. We expect too much from people who get paid to play hockey.

  21. Who cares! Why can’t people make decisions to live the life they want to without being called out for it. No one’s getting hurt.

  22. Can we just allow people to not give a fuck about a situation? Like, I am not gay, I don’t have to think about this, I don’t want to wear a jersey, I don’t hate anyone that wears it, or is gay. I just don’t give a fuck, it’s not my problem, somebody else can deal with it. I don’t want to be a human billboard. Can’t one not support it, and not hate it neither? Does it always have to be “with us or against us”?

  23. wear it

    don’t wear it

I don’t care. Let the fans decide how they want to handle someone not wearing it

(however, if a devout Christian like Scheifele can wear it, so can the rest)

  24. This sub would be singing a mighty different tune if someone opted out of wearing ‘support the troops’ jerseys.

  25. Good for him. Maybe if enough players don’t wear the ribbon they’ll cancel this charade
