  1. we went 5-0 in minor league play ← u/brutesentiment did a really good writeup about it [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/SFGiants/comments/12gdf10/daily_minors_quicknotes_4823_are_matos_and_murphy/)

    **triple-a**

    * **brett wisely** (rule 5 trade with the rays) 1-4, 2b, 2 r, 1 rbi, 2 bb, 2 so
    * **joey bart** (lol): 2-3, 1 r, 1 rbi, 1 bb, 0 so, 1 sb
    * **ford proctor** (came from a trade with the rays): 0-2, 2 r, 3 bb, 0 so
    * **michael gigliotti** (came from some transaction w/ the rays): 1-4, 2b, 2 rbi, 1 bb, 0 so
    * **ryan walker** (funky delivery, very tough on righties): 3 innings, 0 hits, 0 r (0 er), 0 bb, 1 so
    * **joey marciano** (2017 draft, reliever): 2 innings, 3 hits, 1 r (1 er), 0 bb, 3 so
    * **rj dabovich** (2020 draft, 3rd rounder, reliever), 1 inning, 1 hit, 0 r (0 er), 0 bb, 1 so

    for once, the rivercats do not have a losing record and are now 4-4 on the season

    **richmond** (had a double-header, so i’m separating the stats)

    game 1

    * **ismael munguia** (int. signing in 2015, struck out 7.6% of the time as a 22 year old back in 2021, last batted .336/.366/.502 with 9 home runs in 81 games, missed all of 2022 due to an injury): 2-3, 1 r, 1 rbi, 1 bb, 0 so
    * **luis matos** (kinda obvious): 3-4, 2-run hr, 2 r, 2 rbi, 0 so
    * **patrick bailey** (also kinda obvious): 1-3, 2b, 1 rbi, 0 so
    * **carson seymour** (ruf trade!): 4 innings, 3 hits, 3 r (1 er — errors by auerbach and andy thomas, the catcher), 2 bb, 3 so
    * **ryan murphy** (2020 5th rounder, injury marred 2022, was not healthy, last pitched to a 2.52 era with 164 strikeouts across 2 levels and 107 innings in a full (mostly) healthy season — 2021): 2 innings, 2 hits, 0 r (0er), 1 bb, 5 so

    game 2

    * **ismael munguia**: 1-3, 1 r, 1 bb, 0 so
    * **luis matos**: 0-1, 2 bb(!), 0 so
    * **tyler “chris taylor” fitzgerald** (2019 draftee, multi-positional guy, very athletic): 1-1, 2 rbi, 2 bb, 0 so
    * **nick zwack** (ruf trade guy! lefty starter, 6 of his ks were consecutive iirc and i think he remained perfect until the 4th): 4 innings, 1 hit, 0 r (0 er), 0 bb, 9(!) so
    * **wil jensen** (udfa pickup in 2020): 2 innings, 1 hit, 0 r (0 er), 1 bb, 2 so
    * **randy rodriguez** (the giants once tried to turn him into a starter and it did not work): 0.1 innings, 2 r (2 er), 4 bb, 1 so, left game w/ the bases loaded and got bailed out by **juan sanchez** (lefty reliever added to the 40-man this offseason)

    richmond won both games of the double-header and is now 2-0 on the season

    very talented squad and could feasibly have vaun brown, luciano, matos, munguia, bailey, and a couple of other bats w/ power (like fitzgerald) in the same lineup once everyone is healthy

    **high-a**

    * **grant mccray** (2019 third rounder out of hs, very athletic w/ the potential to stick in cf, swing and miss issues): 2-5, 2 2b, 1 so
    * **wade meckler** (2022 9th rounder, seems like the giants love him based on how fast he got to high-a, just have a feeling): 1-4, 1 r, 1 bb, 2 so
    * **luis toribio**: 1-2, 2 bb, 0 so
    * **jimmy glowenke** (2020 second rounder): 3-3, 2-run hr, 1 r, 3 rbi, 1 bb
    * **eric silva** (2021 4th rounder, 20 years old, [read this](https://i.ibb.co/jMRywgG/Screen-Shot-2023-04-09-at-12-43-31-PM.png): 4 innings, 1 r (1er), 2 bb, 1 so
    * **ty weber** (25 year old reliever): 1 inning, 0 hits, 0 r (0er), 0 bb, 2 so

    eugene is now 1-1 on the season

    **low-a**

    * **diego velasquez** (int. signing, 19 years old): 2-4, 2 r, 1 rbi, 0 so
    * **thomas gavello** (2022 draft pick in the 13th round, catcher): 0-2, 1 r, 2 bb, 0 so (plate discipline!)
    * **william kempner** (2022 draft pick in the 3rd round, “94-98 sinker w/ interesting mvmt from a very low release pt, sweeping sl, avg ch w/ good fade. fb command needs work” – quoted from @giantsprospects): 3 innings, 2 hits, 0 r (0 er), 3 bb, 3 so
    * **cumming** (…): 4 innings, 7 hits, 0 r (0 er), 0 bb, 3 so

    san jose is now 1-2 on the season

  2. Not to be a negative Nancy, but I think Crawford’s poor start is sort of understated in the discussions here

    I want to stress that they’ve played 8 games. He could have a 3 hit game and look like top tier. It’s a small sample

    ///

    Crawford has a .000 AVG against 4 seamers. This is definitely the most small sample-ey of everything. He has always mashed 4 seamers, and will sooner than later

    He has a .152 xBA. That absolutely sucks

    And looking through plate discipline numbers, he’s less agressive w swings than ever before. Notably on the 1st pitch

    I think that’s really interesting. Selective Crawford is not something we see for long stretches. He’s usually very agressive

    ///

    There are some little things in there that suggest he’s been a little unlucky. Getting under balls at an extreme rate and the fact is that he’s controlling the zone pretty well

    ///

    Defensively, Fangraphs has him as the 2nd worst Shortstop in 51 innings.

    -3 DRS, very very slightly below average range w UZR, and -2 Outs Above Average

    His results have not been good. Again, this is the tiniest of tiny samples. But these are the numbers as of now
