  1. if a 3rd is on the table for okudah I’d drive him to LA myself, I still think he can be a solid player in this league but that’s gonna take reps and development and for the lions goals in 2023-24 I don’t think that is something the lions can offer okudah

  2. I’d probably do it. Use the extra pick to move up at some point in the draft most likely. He can maybe develop more somewhere else but I don’t want to extend him.

  3. If we assume he’s not in the future plans, we have to determine whether a third round pick or one year of performance (as a player who might not start) is more valuable. This is set up to be a competitive season, injuries happen all the time, and there’s also a chance he shines and we would re-sign him as the one year deal guys leave.

I’ve been saying for years that corners without tremendous speed have to be so much better in other ways to overcome it. He hasn’t shown that he can do that and I’m not sure he will.

Jackson Krueger actually just happened to make a video about this.

  4. Shit, they owe it to us for winning meaningless games to end the season and then NOT winning the one we actually needed them to.

  5. getting a 3rd to save about 10 million on the cap this year for a player who hasn’t proven he is worth 10M?
    Yes please.

  6. You’re out of your mind if you think a 3rd is Okudahs trade value. He hasn’t proven shit and is due to get paid soon. Maybe a 5th, which even then, I would take for him. OSU DBs, never a good idea

  7. I may be the only one but I saw enough promise from Okudah at the beginning of the season to want to see him back this year. I think the improved secondary around him could help him tremendously.

  8. I’lol probably be wrong for this take down the line but I’d rather keep him another year. I still think next year is his sophomore szn after his first 2 we’re plagued by injury and fatpat.

I treated this past year as his rookie szn, and ya he got burned but hopeful for a 3rd ovr guy to show his worth eventually. He was best in college which chase young and I think this year we’ll have our best pass rush to date so that must help.

  9. Good question. The best we could do for compensatory pick with him leaving is a 3rd, so having the 3rd in hand might be worth it.

  10. No way we’d get a 3rd for him. And he doesn’t really have 2 years left since its a 5th year option at ~$11m for 2024. So the rams would be sending a third for a so-so player for 1 season.

  11. I’m too emotionally invested in seeing Okudah prove Woodward Sports wrong that I couldn’t possibly bear to see him traded for only a 3rd

  12. Health is the only reason I’d consider this. Now, he is not the #1 corner we thought he was, but I believe he has shown enough to be a solid #2 with the right players around him. A 3rd rounder may or may not return the same thing so stick with the guy you know.

  13. Yes this would get the deal done. I would have taken a day 3 pick to be honest.

  14. If thats the move, trade 6 to Titans and grab a CB. Why do a reclamation project when you can start fresh with a guy you personally scouted? That is if both Carter and Anderson are off the table

  15. I bet the Lions would take a 5th for him at this point, tbh. Even if they like him his next contract after this year is going to be way high.

  16. I would definitely do it. He is in the last year of his rookie deal, and the team has not picked up his 5th year option. Unless he has a breakout year, I don’t think the team plans on bringing him back. That is why they signed Sutton to a multiyear deal, and will very likely draft a CB this year who can be a starter when Okudah is gone.

  17. Keep him for this last year, the money doesn’t do anything for us now as free agency is mainly dried up. Also he finally has a secondary full of vets that he can lean on and learn from. So see what happens this year and move on if he still can’t figure it out.

  18. The Lions trading Jefe would be a gesture of good will towards him. However a 3rd round pick is way too high of compensation to expect in return for him

  19. I think he still has great potential with a move to Free Safety or Strong Safety. He has lost a little bit of speed but is still a great football player, knows where to be on the field at the right time. And is a very hard-hitting tackler,

  20. I think Okudah could still be a top twenty corner in this league with reps and comfort in the system. I wouldn’t hate a third though…..

  21. If we can get a 3rd round pick for him, that would be great. Let’s get this deal done!

  22. It’s crazy: Okudah was supposed to be the can’t miss, dominant corner when he was drafted 3rd overall. He has 1 career interception.

  23. Gotta keep him and then let him go in free agency. We will get a comp for him. Maybe even a third rounder.

  24. I like okudah, I think he held it together in the backfield when we had nobody and now he is going to be a leader in this new group we got. I like fresh blood coming in and refreshing the team but we have to keep some of these core guys who not only have put themselves on the line when there was nothing to gain but DESERVE to be apart of the team on a winning season. We already have a couple guys coming back from years prior which is a great feeling. I get most of it is an attachment to the players but regardless of that hes done enough to stick around. (for less money lol)

  25. I’d take a half carton of cigarettes for Okudah. He’s worse than Amani and he’s gone for nothing.
