My all-time Brewers’ 26-man roster

Hey y’all. Just finished making this all-time 26-man game roster for the Brewers and wanted to know what Brewers fans think. It was hard figuring out how many modern Brewers players to add to the roster, but since the franchise’s recent stretch has been the most successful period in the organization’s history ā€” particularly on the mound ā€” it definitely seemed fitting to scatter them throughout this list. Would love to hear your guys’ thoughts.

  1. Iā€™m going to argue here:

I like Dan Plesac, he does great analyst stuff, but Axford should be on this list. People forget how unhittable he was for 3 seasons before his arm exploded

  2. If you’re going to use career achievements over Brewers achievements, I think you have to put in C.C. Sabathia over Mike Caldwell.

Even his Brewers stats were jaw dropping for the 17 games he had here (we’ll ignore his lone start in the NLDS)

11-2 – 1.65 ERA – 7 complete games – 4.9 WAR. They don’t go to the playoffs in 2008 without him. Hell, he hit .229 with a home run and 6 RBI as an AL pitcher.

Careerwise he’s almost certainly a 1st ballot hall of famer and objectively had a better career than Caldwell.

  3. Very happy to see my favorite Brewer, Cirillo, here. He played during what was a dark time, but he was outstanding.

  4. Great list. But I would put K-rod in place of fingers. They have just about the same amount of time served with the brewers. Francisco also has more career saves(437) and a better lifetime ERA(2.86). Not to mention he was a 2X All Star with the brewers with a total of 85 career saves in MKE.

  5. With all due respect to both Gantner & Weeks, has 2B historically been Milwaukee’s weakest position?
