[Griffins] Brian Lashoff Retires

  1. Every organization needs a Brian Lashoff. He got to live out his NHL dream, but was willing to stay with the org even in the AHL and be an excellent leader and mentor. A Griffins legend and he deserves a ton of respect.

  2. Great guy… he got some NHL seasons in and played like a champ for the griffins. Much respect to him.

  3. If my googles are correct then Lashoff played 628 games from 2008 to 2023 with the Griffins, 263 games more than Grand Rapids legend Mitch Callahan and the most in franchise history since they merged with the AHL in 2001. Edit: 3rd most games with the same team in AHL history.

He played for the Griffins with fan favorite names you’ll recognize like Jimmy Howard, Tyler Bertuzzi, Chris Chelios (they played 2 and 6 games in ’08-’09, not sure if they played together), Luke Glendening, Darren Helm, Filip Hronek, Dylan Larkin (playoffs only), Anthony Mantha, Gus Nyquist, Michael Rasmussen, Mo Seider, Tomas Tatar, and Joe Veleno. Throughout his career he was a reliable call-up to Detroit who could eat 20 minutes of ice time without much consequence.

He’s been one of the few stable pieces in GR between the previous group and the new one, and he’s been a leader throughout. I’d personally raise 18 to the rafters in Van Andel.
