  1. From Art;

“Just my personal opinion: if Giants were going to blink and agree to a long-term deal at Saquon’s reported terms, they would’ve done it already.

Seemingly NYG brass has, to this point, taken emotion out of it + relied on what the market for RB shows. That doesn’t help Saquon.”

Roc Nation is not doing Saquon any favors. He needs to get himself Athlete’s First

  2. Undoubtedly the right move for us. He should’ve signed the contract we offered at the bye week, it was an awful decision by him and his camp. The RB market was never going to go up, if anything it was going to crash even further than it already has and that’s exactly what happened. He has absolutely zero leverage and we have zero incentive to offer a long term deal. We’re in a great spot here.

  3. Idk about anyone else but this situation makes me uneasy. People say it’s easy to replace RBs but losing Saquon would be a massive blow to this offense. Having him on the field changes how teams have to defend us. I don’t think the same could be said for some rookie RB taken in the 3rd or 4th round. I really hope this works out for everyone involved

  4. If he wants the money he wants, he’s going to need to invest in a time machine and convince his younger self to play WR instead.

  5. Not shocked Saquon isn’t going into the workouts with that bullshit tag. Too much to lose.

Schoen isn’t a moron. He’s not going into the season with Breida as the starting RB. This is all a song and dance. They will get a contract done.

Giants offense will go into the FKN toilet without him around. There’s no rookie WR or RB stepping onto the team who will replace him.

    Get real….

  6. Just so I understand his options are they 1. Sign the tag 2. Retire from NFL 3. Find a trade for 2 first rounds or 4. Sign a long term deal

  7. He basically got overpaid as an RB for being drafted at number 2 and he is feeling the burn on the other side now that the tag isn’t as good, again because he is an RB.

Team shouldn’t flinch, Barkley passed on the deal on the table. Shouldn’t talk extension again until the middle of the coming season.

  8. I love Saquan, but with the revamped pass game and knowing this is still a rebuilding year, can they scratch together enough in free agency/trade/draft for a short term solution? The average salary at the RB position for recent Super Bowl winning teams proves you don’t need to spend much for high value backs.

  9. my guess is he waits until before training campe and signs it so he doesnt have to go to the off season bs.

  10. It could be his way of avoiding any pre-season BS, with the intent of signing just before the start of the season. Does the tag cover pre-season games as part of the pay?

  11. The Giants lack of interest is another indication that using the second pick in the draft was a horrible pick. Like most Giants fans, I love Barkley. I didn’t like the pick from the moment they made it.

  12. The only person Barkley should be upset with is his agent who clearly gave him bad advice.

  13. I feel like him playing on the tag and then getting an extension would’ve been smarter for him because he probably would have more money in the end lol

  14. So, can someone explain this to me? I understand the value (or lack thereof) of the running back position. And I’ve been following the contract negotiations and whatnot.

This feels to me, however, like the 2 parties are pretty far apart and there’s a good chance he’s not playing for us this season unless we sign a long term deal. Am I wrong?

  15. Why would they be? You can get a seventh rounder for pretty much the same production

  16. All that has been proven is big RB never work. Zeke gets cut, Mixon will be cut… he should have taken the deal we gave him by the bye week.

  17. Well yeah they can franchise him this and next year. That would effectively be most of his prime without the risk of a long term deal if his asking price is too high.
