Colts WR Michael Pittman Jr, entering Year 3, on contract talks — he’d be a FA next spring w/o a deal. “I think that happens naturally with performance. And it if doesn’t happen this year, no big deal.” He’ll leave talks to his agent. “Those can get ugly … I just wanna play.”

  1. Perfect quote, I hope it doesn’t come down to missing training camp to try and force and deal.

  2. I think he gets paid. It won’t be a 5-year deal like Hilton’s second contract but it won’t be a 1-year prove it deal either. I’m guessing a three year deal bolstered by incentives.

  3. His numbers outside of catches are atrocious. He got lots of receptions, but somebody on the team has to when you throw the ball a bunch. If you look at what he did with those receptions he sure doesn’t look like a WR1. His YAC and yards relative to the number of catches he had were bad. His longest catch on the year was 28 yards. He just doesn’t have the playmaking ability you want in your best WR. Sure our WR room is bad but overpaying him would be a mistake. He’s a solid WR2 but whichever team gives him the contract he wants is going to be extremely disappointed with his production.

  4. We’ll see with an actual QB. Shit, we’ll see him better with Minshew than the last few doofuses we’ve rolled out.

But, as of now, I’m cool either way. I wouldn’t pay him WR1 money, but I also know how wild the WR market is.

    I just don’t ever think he becomes a bonafide WR1. But he’d be a perfect 2.

  5. People saying Pitt isn’t a WR1 are crazy. There are 32 WR1s in the league and he absolutely is one of them. I think most people think WR1 and think Justin Jefferson or Tyreek Hill but the reality is those guys are in a league of their own. Pitt would easily be the best receiver on half the teams in the league.
