  1. Game notes for today/what I’m watching for:

    – Springs is looking to continue to finish off the sweep and make it 13-0. We saw yesterday that the only way the Boston offense can put up any meaningful offensive numbers is when the defense gifts them runs (they got 4 from the Rays RF yesterday), so it’ll be important to play at least competent defense if they want to cruise to another W. Springs has been really sharp against the Red Sox for his career aside from a 5 ER outing (thanks Green Monster) that skews his data a bit. In games at the Trop vs Boston, he has pitches to a 1.23 ERA/2.59 FIP in 7.1 IP as a RP/bulk guy. If he replicates this and goes 7 IP with 1 ER, the Rays should be 13-0 by dinner time
    – Brandon Lowe has been the hottest hitter on the planet over the past week with a 390 wRC+(!), 723 wOBA(!!), and a 1.936 OPS(!!!) – the next closest is 1.682(!!!!). Believe it or not, he’s actually UNDERPERFORMING his xwOBA by over 80 points on fangraphs, so he could be due for a few more batted balls to find the grass. B Lowe also has a 21.6 BB% to match his 21.6 K%, both career bests so far. This is basically a long winded way of saying he should continue to rake today. I also like J Lowe today against Kluber; the adjustments he made this off-season helped him get much better against velo, but J Lo’s biggest strength at the plate is still his ability to mash against offspeed and breaking stuff. His .669 wOBA against these types of pitches is leading all of baseball (min 50 of these pitches seen), and that’s pretty much all Kluber throws these days – even his cutter and sinker would be considered offspeed compared to some of the velo we’ve seen this season

  6. This has been one of the most fun stretches I’ve ever had watching the Rays play. I had high hopes and expectations for this season, but this is a whole new level. There will be ebbs and flows throughout the season, but the best part of this winning streak is that we can play .500 ball the rest of the season and finish with 87 wins and likely a playoff spot. I can tell you right now that this is not a .500 team… we’re in great position to win the division.

    Third game, hitting had to bail out pitching (and defense).

  10. I’m a Cards fan just dropping in to wish y’all some good luck and positive vibes. You guys are killing it this season and it’s been super fun to watch my local team dominate this year. Gonna try and get tickets for the whole series we have against you guys in August
