CJ McCollum: “We’ve got to be available. We’ve got to do what we need to do off the court in terms of preparation, in terms of getting treatment, in terms of getting the right sleep, the right type of hydration, having the right type of diet. Everything has to matter for everybody, one through 15.”

  1. People are saying CJ is cheap for this and is one to talk after recent performances. But come on. He’s not wrong. Idk what the fuck is up with Zion. His health, conditioning, mentality, etc… but he’s the elephant in the room and it needs to be addressed. Maybe CJ practically calling him out like this is a start.

  2. CJ played the whole season hurt… BI rolled his ankles a bunch of times, and Zion says he needs to feel himself before he plays.

  3. Two things are true: Zion needs to be on the court and CJ should’ve stepped up last night, 5/15 is brutal.

  4. Its easy to think hes only talking about Zion but the core of Zion CJ and Ingram only played 10 games together while one or two were active the third wasnt, our bigs had inconsistent health and our two best defenders were out either most of the beginning of the season or the end of the season CJ played through his injuries so he could also mean that but the whole team has a health issue

  5. I think He played more games than Zion and BI combined while having no thumb and a torn labrum

Regardless of what you feel about him he can talk as much shit as he wants

  6. I posted the same thing but if he’s taking a shot at Zion I don’t think doing that publicly is a good look but maybe that is what gets Zion to change? Idk.

Zion came in this season in better shape than he was last year but even then Ive said he needs to be in the same shape he was at duke. He’s never gotten back to that level of shape and conditioning.

He should just do it for himself. He has every advantage and tool at his disposal.

  7. Do you guys understand that you can still run and stay in shape with upper body injuries? Asking zion to hop back into an elimination game with no ramp up period is dumb af

  8. I’ve criticized CJ all season, but he is right about his statement. Despite having many poor games, the fact that he shows up to work (same with Jonas) is why i have lots of respect to them. They aren’t perfect but are at least available despite being the elder statesmen of the team.

Hopefully Zion takes this in a mature way and takes it into heart. This team can only go far as zion can lead this team. This goes with BI as well who has missed at least 20 games a year.

  9. Say what you will about his play, but that in my book is leadership: exemplify the work and behavior you want out of others; and be willing to do the things you have to do to make yourself better.
