  1. This is a long read, but well worth your time. It goes over the positive and negative aspects in detail. While it won’t stop the “hot take” comments, it does show there is more to some of the inaccuracy claims than meets the eye.

  2. What is his floor scenario? A dysfunctional situation that rushes his natural developmental timeline while forcing him to master a denser playbook with a lot of language and nuance that slows down his ability to perform. Then, as the team loses, the owner loses patience, creates a staffing turnstile, and maintains unrealistic expectations for the quarterback.

I can’t think of a single team this would apply to.

  3. As I read this I’m getting more and more convinced that he’s NOT a target for our coach/GM.

I don’t think that he fits McDaniels scheme, and I don’t see our coach revamping his system to accommodate him.

Which is a shame, if he’s available at 7 I would run to the podium.

  4. Very interesting deep dive on Richardson.

It actually partially alleviates some of my concerns about him. I’m still not 100% sold on The Raiders taking him.

It sounds like for his level of starting at the college level he quickly picked up making reads and adjustments. There’s work to be done there but he seems to “get it”. Well we just had our previous QB (who’s strength was reads and adjustments) have one of his worst seasons ever.

I don’t doubt the possibility that Richardson could pan out and maybe be a star for someone. I don’t think he will be one for *us* just because the system and him are incompatible for his growth

  5. phenomenal article

i dont watch college football during the season, and about 95% of my CFB exposure comes when im trying to figure out draft possibilities

when the news came that carr was gone, i immediately starting diving into the qbs. my baseline impression by just looking at stats and those random small “scouting reports” online led me to brush off richardson as basically this year’s malik willis.

but man… the more i actually watched his games (not highlight reels), the more i liked. the stats didnt match up with what i was seeing. and then i encountered JT Osullivan’s youtube channel with this long, expansive game breakdowns, and it confirmed what i was seeing

the raiders landing richardson has become my dream scenario for this year’s draft. and if we traded up to secure him, i wouldnt mind
