  1. Minnesota Wild went through the same thing. First 8 or 9 years you couldn’t buy a ticket to save your life. Then the product started slipping and by years 11-12 Wild couldn’t give tickets away. This leads to to crazy contracts with Parise and Suter to get fans back, and now things have sort of stabilized with not a great team and an ok fan base. Wild season ticket holders aren’t a whole lot happier either, but the wild do work on the customer appreciation side of things.

  2. Am I the only one that really doesn’t get this whole true north threatens to leave thing? Granted I’ve maybe watched the video twice, but I never got this take away. Does true north need to work on the whole fan experience? 100% but this whole “true north threatens fans” thing seems like a bunch of garbage

  3. Lost me after “bully pulpit tactic”. Was it out of touch and a little tone deaf? Absolutely. Was it a personal attack on the fanbase that has merited this much outrage? No

  4. Bottom line is I just can’t imagine the jets leave no matter how much people want to spin it as a threat.

True north bought the team for 170 million. It’s now worth 600+ and will continue to rise.

The team is backed by the richest man in Canada, who can sit back and watch his investment grow each year, because that’s what sports teams do.

It’s not so much about the profit year by year that the team makes in revenue. The real value is how much the team is worth, which has increased over 300%.

Unless the team is just bleeding cash left and right, and losing millions each year…. something I’d find hard to believe considering the attendance issues so many other places have.

Even if true north makes 0 profit each year, the value of the team keeps rising. That’s the benefit of owning a sports team… there are a limited amount out there.
