  3. Man, if only we had some pitching. Too bad nobody saw that issue coming with our team this year.

  4. I’m gonna start rooting against the Cardinals, like reverse psychology. If it works, great. If not, then at least I’ll have more fun.

    in 2022 the cardinals were:

    11-9 in april
    17-12 in may
    15-14 in june
    11-13 in july
    22-7 in august
    15-11 in september
    2-3 in october

    … this is our july 2022?

    a couple of augusts would be nice 🥲

  10. I hope we put up 20 and shut out the DBacks tomorrow and there’s lots of controversial calls that go our way just to piss off Torey Lovullo. What an annoying prick.

  13. Loss sucks, but maybe that fight back helps them regroup (Hicks was electric and could pitch again too!)

  16. I firmly believe our offense is going to figure it out and be a terror.

    Our pitching? Not so much.

    Still sucks we keep having such high scoring games from our opponents, though

  19. Why would Oli put Arenado in for Gorman instead of letting him hit with no one on base. Then you have the option to put Nado in for Carlson

  20. ah the classic ‘give you hope at the end in a game you already made peace with losing, only to make sure you experience even more pain in the loss’. wonderful.

  21. Hear me out. While the result sucks; at least they were able to execute on some situational hitting and that’s a good sign. Maybe we need to focus on being able to score before we can think about winning. That wasn’t ideal but it was better than what I’ve seen lately.

  22. The good:

    – Wilson coming alive
    – We scored runs
    – Hicks remembering how to pitch

  23. Honestly feels pretty good to not roll over and die despite the bad rest of things

  26. Welp. Good to see the offense do more stuff and Willy have a breakout game, but holy shit its always something. Pen was good, offense was good-ish, Monty was not great. Yeah some bad luck, but he was not good at all.

  27. Some positive take aways from tonight;

    Willy getting hot

    Hicks didn’t suck

    Nootbaar on pace to beat Bonds walk record

  29. It’s honestly impressive that we’re already 5.5 games back. Like, you couldn’t have realistically imagined a worse start for the Cardinals or a better start for the Brewers, much less both at the same time. And it’s probably going to get worse before it gets better, as 5-5 on the upcoming road trip would be considered a success (and I don’t say that to be a doomer—3 city west coast road trips are always tough!).

    With that being said, we’re still just 18 games in with 144 to go, although at some point it stops being early and you just have to play better baseball. Let’s beat MadBum tomorrow and take a well deserved off day—both for the team and the fans LOL

  30. I drank a lot. I ate a couple cans of coconut ice cream. I said nice things about Paul DeJong.

    This is my version of “I came, I saw, I conquered.”

  31. So Lovullo was definitely doing baseball’s version of “ice the kicker” at the end there, right?

  34. Something of a bright side: I would say the NL east and AL central are the only divisions that look similar to how they did last year. I mean, both WS teams are under .500, so that’s gotta show that we’re not the only team that’s not meeting expectations so far.

  35. No help is on the way either. I can see the FO saying – games are quicker which means we are selling less beer, then add in the Bud Light boycott – which means even fewer beers being sold – then Bally’s might default on their cable payment. Heck by July the Gateway Grizzlies might have a higher payroll than the Cardinals.

  36. Have the Cardinals given up on Dakota Hudson? He most certainly is the better replacement for Pallante.
