  1. It’s all about staying healthy and consistent. I won’t drink the koolaid yet, but I’m definitely stirring the jug pretty vigorously.

  2. I’ll admit. I was not high on this team in the preseason. However one thing I didn’t account for was synergy. This team has melded so well together. They’re just a great vibe running through this clubhouse.

  3. All offseason I was banging the drum for the Cubs to sign this group of guys – Beli, Mancini, Swanson, and Rios, specifically. Even at my most optimistic, I did not expect this team to be this good right out of the gate w/o Mervis or any of the other kids being the spark plug to get the offense going.

Little did I know, all along, the secret was starting Yan Gomes. The Cubs are 9-1 when Gomes starts (8 straight wins).

  4. A lifetime of being a Cubs fan always has me wary of jumping on the train too early to avoid being let down. It’s a small sample size, however they pass the eye-test right now. Suzuki is getting worked back in, Hendricks is on his way back soon. If our relievers over-perform, it’s realistic to see us eyeing 1st in the division instead of a WC spot.

Let’s see what things are like at the end of May. By then we’ll have played MIN, HOU, PHI, NYM, and TB. If these numbers hold up we can drink all the Kool aid we want.

  5. Drinking the koolaid is a right of passage for any Cubs fan, and I am personally in favor of it. Remember the movie elf? Maybe if we just believe in them, they can take off. But, either way, it isn’t harming anything to believe in them. It’s fun to catch that spirit when it’s there for catching. Fucking enjoy the shit out of it, get a koolaid mustache. Live it up.
