[Daniel Greenberg] “Somebody told me don’t sleep on Bijan Robinson with the Chicago Bears at number 9.” – NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah

For the record, I DO NOT think this will happen at all, but if it were to happen I would love it honestly! I was all on the “if we take a running back in the first round fire everyone” train a few weeks ago, but after watching film on Bijan and thinking about how great our offense would be with him, I AM SOLD. It would be great if we can trade down and get him but I don’t think he’ll go past the Eagles at 10 so if IF Poles wants him 9 is the place to take him. I’d much rather trade down and get a tackle or DL, but if Poles decides to go this route, IM ALL FOR IT.

  1. I don’t think the Bears are taking Bijan at 9, but they certainly would love to take a free draft pick from the Eagles or someone else to move ahead of Eagles and take him.

  2. The front office should be “leaking” to different members of the press that they’re interested in every potential pick there is, whether there’s any truth to it or not.

Generate value for potential trades if other teams think there’s a risk that their guy might be gone. Keep the other teams guessing. I’m all for the gamesmanship.

  3. no lie, I’d be ok with it. Not what I expect them to do, but as I’ve been saying for a while, the biggest need the bears have is talent, so adding a blue chip talent at any position is a welcome development in my book.

  4. I’m not going to say we should draft him. I hear and agree with just about every point against taking HB that high.

What I will say is that if we do, we get a star player for 4-5 years that will be the cornerstone to the offense. He can be used in a lot of ways and will definitely help the offense move the ball and score points. He’ll be one of the best players on the team as a rookie. You’ll love watching him on Sunday.

The “don’t draft HB in round 1” rule has merit. There is an exception to every rule. I think Bijan is most likely an exception to that rule. Though I do think we go elsewhere with the pick.

  5. For what it’s worth, Draftkings has Bijan as the favorite to go #8 to the Falcons, and Fanduel has him as 2nd most likely at #8. Not offering that up as if it will happen but more of an indication that it’s possible he might go in the back of the top 10.

I don’t think we’ll draft Bijan, but some commenters need to chill in pushing back on this stuff and dismissing it instantly. As much as we want to pretend we know where guys should go, or will go, nobody knows anything for certain except the teams. Last year, going into the draft, our biggest needs according to media were receiver, OT, and DT. Then, Poles drafted two DBs with the first two picks. So, who the fuck knows really.

  6. One of the only guarantees in the draft. I wouldn’t love it, but damn it’d be fun as hell come game one.

  7. Someone lied to you.

The Bears are on record as being religiously tied to position value. To the point where Flus said they wouldn’t have drafted Roquan as high as the Bears previous regime did if he was available at Indy’s pick.

There’s zero chance the Bears pick a RB in the first with already three RBs on roster.

  8. In ‘21 Najee Harris was 1st RB at #24. 4yr contract 13 fully guarenteed. 6.9 signing bonus and 3mil per year average.

    In ‘20 CEH was 1st RB at 32. 4yr/10mill & 9.8 guarenteed 5mill signing bonus and 2.8 per year.

    In ‘19 Jacobs was 1st at 24. 4yr 11.9mill fully guaranteed and 7mill signing.

In ‘18 Barkley was 2nd overall. 4yr at 31mill& 21mill guaranteed. Average of 7.8 mill per year. Barkley played out his contract and actually earned 38mill.

Given Poles track record on spending so far at RB, the poor production of CEH at his previous stop, and the fact that an RB at 9 is going to cost somewhere between Harris 13mill and Barkleys 31 mill I don’t see a scenario where we take Bijan.

  9. Actually building some traction on Bijan the pick ahead of the Eagles sounds CHESS to me. The wouldn’t mind a few more extra late picks for one spot

  10. Let’s look back at the last 13 SB winners and see their leading rushers

2010: GB Brandon Jackson- 2nd round and had 700 yds

2011: NYG Ahmad Bradshaw- 7th round and 660 yds

2012: BAL Ray rice- 2nd round 1100 yds

2013: SEA Marshawn- 1st round (not by Seattle) 1200 yds

    2014: NE committee

    2015: DEN Ronnie Hillman- 3rd

    2016: NE Blount- undrafted

    2017: PHI Blount- undrafted

2018: NE Sony Michel- end of 1st

    2019: KC Damien Williams- undrafted

    2020: TB rojo- 2nd

2021: LAR Michel- late 1st (not by team)

    2022: KC Pacheco- 7th

  11. Best player in the draft this year. Would not be mad, but our defense is so trash

  12. Didn’t DJ say last week Bears should consider Anthony Richardson if he’s there? I think “insiders” are just throwing out all options at this point & hoping something sticks.

  13. im thinking carter will be gone by 9, Paris might be there…..if both are gone they go JSN and id be perfectly fine with that

  14. The skill player I want at 9 is JSN, Bijan is sick but rbs just have such a short shelf life in the NFL. Even if they have long careers, the hits add up quickly and their prime tends to be a pretty small window.
