My guess is that guys like Mervis, Morel and Velazquez will stay in AAA until someone on the big league rosters goes on the IL, which is not necessarily a bad thing. It’s always good to have depth, because it’s a long season and chances are not everyone is going to stay healthy over the course. It also sounds like there is a really good clubhouse energy that Jed probably doesn’t want to mess with too much. Seems like a good problem to have.
That said, I hope we get some bullpen help, either via trade or from within. You will have a tough time convincing me Fulmer and Merryweather will ever be effective in high leverage situations. Having a true closer would be nice, just wonder what the options are.
