[The Athletic] “They’re going to play that way, we have to adjust. We have to be stronger. We have to be better.” – Khris on the approach going into Game 4 against Miami.

The Athletic has dropped another article just putting some notes down regarding Game 3. Jrue was pretty open about needing to be more selfless at times, as his jumper began to fall off, and as we had no serious inside threat against this Miami team with Giannis absent. Khris also gave some notes on turnovers, saying how Miami’s physical offence was speeding the guys up, and being “stronger and better” is essential to overcoming this. Even with Brook, the onslaught he brought in Game 2 meant a huge change up from Miami hugely removed his impact, realistically having a terrible game for his high standards.

In 6 ish hours from this post, the Bucks will have to submit their initial injury report. Until then it’s unlikely we will know how Giannis is looking availability wise, as Bud has declined most questions.

It’s unquestionable though, Giannis’ return is looking more and more crucial with our Bucks looking stunned at times with how to handle Miami’s playoff leading offence and extreme physicality.

  1. I still trust the team. Down 2-0 in the finals. Down 3-2 to the Nets. Hopefully Giannis can come back, but I have faith in the team to adjust and win these next 3 games.

  2. They seem to really be struggling to lock in. Brook looked totally lost all night. Complete lack of energy and hustle. Nobody fought for boards, and not even Jrue could keep his man in front of him. Countless sloppy turnovers and concessions, lackluster offense, the list goes on. Someone on the game thread said they came in overconfident from their win in game 2 and the hot start in the first quarter, relaxed, and then couldn’t get things going again for the rest of the game. I think they’re right. We cannot afford to trade games back and forth just to stay motivated. It’s time to lock in and stay locked in.

  3. Khris has checked out mentally. He gets so easily frustrated with physical defense it’s concerning. He’s resorted to Celtics tactics of complaining to refs instead of getting back in transition. He’s been lazy on the boards letting his man outwork him to the ball. And he’s collapsing on dribble drives and leaving shooters wide fucking open. At one point he collapsed on a kevin love dribble drive and left max strus wide open for a huge momentum three. I know he’s hit a few shots out there but dude is flat out not engaged in the game. It’s a team wide issue and he’s obviously not the only problem but with giannis out he’s supposed to be the veteran leader out there and to see khris basically play like it’s a Wednesday night against the Hornets is extremely disappointing.

  4. Starts with Khris being less boneheaded with the ball. His careless (or just inept) turnovers have cost us games.

  5. They played extremely sloppy for most of the game, and they never cleaned it up. I think the early foul trouble fazed them.

  6. We have glaring weaknesses. 0 wing defense and we rely on everyone shooting 3s. But ever team has weaknesses this year. Nobody is perfect. We are being completely out coached and out hustled. We’re letting one of the WORST 3 point shooting teams absolutely smoke us from the perimeter while Jimmy does whatever tf he wants

  7. I never understand why it takes getting embarrassed like that to cause a mindset change, it shouldn’t come to that. Be locked in already

  8. I’m not sure what athletes need to do to stay locked in or what they need to draw from to stay motivated; but from a fans perspective it just seems so odd to see everyone “say the right things” and then see it completely fall off the rails in game.

Like; they know how fucking hard it is to win a championship and yet….it still seems like they haven’t.

  9. Since 2018 we are 15-18 against the heat including the playoffs. I know the NBA is fluid with rosters, but sometimes another team is just a thorn in your side. This series was destined to be difficult even before Giannis went down.
