[The Athletic] The AFC is loaded with elite QBs. It’s time for a big swing β€” and a bet on the new coach. The case for the Colts and Anthony Richardson πŸ‘‡πŸ»

Tomorrow, Zak Keefer will do the same article topic on Will Levis.

  1. I know others in here have said it, but this is why I like the idea of drafting Richardson. Maybe a low chance he hits his ceiling, but if he hits it you are in the same league as the other freak show QBs in the AFC. If Stroud or Levis’s ceiling turned out to be a Derrick Carr type, that just doesn’t cut it anymore

  2. One stat that Keefer mentioned, that I believe is worth nothing is this one:

    β€œThe most encouraging stat:

Richardson’s passing numbers weren’t tremendous for a first-round quarterback prospect: 17 touchdowns, nine interceptions, a worrisome 53.8 completion percentage (he did add nine rushing touchdowns). But he cut his turnovers down over the second half of the season β€” his TD-to-interception ratio was 12-to-2 over his final six starts. That shows he grew increasingly comfortable in the pocket and his decision-making reflected that.”

  3. If they aren’t sold on any of the QBs, take the one with the most upside. If AR can continue to develop as a passer, he has every tool needed to be elite. If in the interviews he showed he is dedicated to the game, is coachable, and has good character, he seems like the obvious choice. Same goes for Levis and Stroud honestly. They’re not as athletic as Richardson but both have the tools to be great. Take the guy who is going to eat, breathe, and sleep football in order to get better.

  4. I’d love the pick. I think Indy would be the best landing spot for him too.

  5. He doesn’t have the tape that Young or Stroud have. He doesn’t have the intelligence of Young or Levis. He doesn’t have the work ethic of Young, Stroud, or Levis. Sure, he’s a big tough guy that can be very athletic, but that’s the only thing about him. I’d rather get a smart guy that has shown they can do something than a big question mark.

Sure, he could be the next Cam Newton, but he can also be the next JaMarcus Russell
