Montoyo playing “Marvins Room” on repeat
I don’t disagree, he does seem like to have the makings of being a part of the supporting cast but not the Manager
I would say Charlie could be the GOAT bench coach, but then… we have Don Mattingly, so
Is it strange to refuse all interview requests?
Fair enough.
I see Charlie as an absolute master in minor-league player development.
Charlie doesn’t want to have to deal with Toronto media anymore, don’t blame him.
Montoyo seems like a phenomenal guy to have on your coaching staff but a mediocre head coach/bench boss.
I didn’t hate Charlie. He did well to take the 2021 team to 90 wins. I wish him all the best.
I love Charlie. He’s a pretty good guy but he’s the type of guy who can develop and get a team up to a certain point and cede it over to a manager who can get that same personnel over the hump. There’s no shame in being a great coach. A former Jays manager was pretty much the same kind of thing in Jimy Williams. A great coach who had some success as a manager but his flaws were fatal.
A little salty of Charlie to refuse interview requests though. I guess I can’t blame him.
I liked Charlie but mostly because managers don’t matter
