I tried reading his lips on the broadcast last night. I could tell he wasn’t chirping the White Sox so I figured it was a frustration comment like this one.

His baseball savant page doesn’t necessarily jump off the page but it also isn’t 58 ops+ bad either. His avg exit velocity is only 20th percentile though. And his hard hit rate is also not ideal.

The poor guy used up all his luck on Opening Day, when he went 5 for 6. I seem to recall that most of those were seeing-eye singles. Since then, he’s 13 for 86. Ouch.
I’m not worried about him. As long as he sticks to his plan, the hits will eventually drop in.
