  1. Mmmmm……

Hopefully Andersen is ready to make people believe in him again.

  2. As much as I don’t like it, I like it.

Raanta has been really good but not untouchable, so getting him some rest is a good move.

I also think Andersen has earned at least a shot to prove himself in the playoffs this year.

  3. I couldn’t possibly imagine why. For everyone talking about rest, I mean there is an extra day off before this game. Freddie has got to be ice cold at this point and recovering from some illness or injury. I say keep rolling Raants.

  4. I don’t mind it as long as 1. Andersen is 100% healthy and 2. Raanta starts game 7 if we lose

  5. Very conflicted here. It feels a tad bizarre, because the Canes don’t rely on goaltending to win games quite as much as some other teams do. Raanta has held up his end of the bargain, albeit he hasn’t been an outright game changer

With that said, the Canes have two good goalies and it’s worth giving Andersen a look because the odds of putting him in being a *”bad”* decision are much less likely than him being equal in goal to Raanta, or even better

Even subpar goaltenders can put up better numbers across a small stretch of games than a Vezina winner. So with two good goaltenders, you are probably doing yourself a disservice not trying the other goalie and seeing what they do, even if the result in game 6 ends up being a lackadaisical performance by Andersen

There’s a chance Andersen simply ends up matching well against NYI, and/or he’s just running a bit hotter than Raanta at present, and that’s all the Canes need to close out this series

TLDR There’s way more upside than there is downside in trying this, especially because the main way CAR would lose 2 games in a row would be Sorokin out-goaltending the Canes

  6. Gonna pose a question for you guys here- If Andersen played tonight and did horribly, would you consider making Kyochetkov the 2nd goalie on the depth chart going forward in the playoffs?

  7. i like this but freddie really has to prove that he is capable of playing postseason hockey, obviously his record with the leafs wasn’t very good (W-L) but that’s also because the leafs are… well the leafs, i trust brind’amour.
