1. I’m in love with Dawand Jones in the 2nd I know the Mekhi situation will make everybody nervous rightfully so but he has truly elite traits.

2. Some interesting prospects still left. Dawand Jones the boulder? Do we get a top safety in branch? Does porter Jr slide down? We go iol with a jms, tippman, or Avila? My thinking joe d is gonna try to trade down and get another draft pick if the top centers or jones isn’t there.

3. We need to put picks in the OL but if branch is there we need to take him. Swear every year there’s some brilliant secondary player that gets knocked down due to an average combine, happened with Kyle Hamilton last year and he turned out great for baltimore

4. This sub all off-season: “Not worried about the draft because in JD i trust”

   This sub after yesterday’s pick: “JD is a dumbass because he picked a player higher than my fav mock drafts indicated”

   (Im not pro or against the pick since i had never heard of the dude prior to yesterday. I just find the situation hillarious.)

5. Will McDonald is my new favorite player based on our subs reaction. People really acting like adding a guy who can get after the QB “doesn’t move the needle” for us lmao.

   Disagree with the pick if you want, fair enough. But some of the reasoning I’ve seen or guys people would rather have are just brain dead takes.

6. Was not happy at first but the more I’m watching McDonald tape the more I like him. My guess is that Lawson + Huff are not Jets next year. So McDonald rotates in this year then gets ready for a lot more snaps next year.

   After Broderick Jones is gone, there was no way to justify reaching for that next tier OT without trading down. From the cameras, it seems like Jets called it in at the final moments. My guess is that they failed trying to find trading partner.

   The way the board was setup, I thought we’d go Kancey. Joe D deserves some benefit of the doubt with his draft dominance last year.

7. Call me crazy, but I think Willy Mac looks better than JJ with more range and speed. JJ has the strength tho.

8. Do people really think our FO traded behind the Pats, a team that also was rumored to go OT, and were shocked when Jones was taken at 14? If they wanted Broderick Jones, they would have traded up for him or found another bargaining chip in the Rodgers trade. To me, it’s obvious they didn’t want Broderick Jones. Maybe the team wanted Skoronski or Wright, but that wasn’t happening regardless.

9. Funniest line I read last night was that Zach Wilson knows how to make picks. So we should have confidence after he announced our pick last night.

10. The Jets picked up Lazzard and Hardman in the off season. There is no need for wide receiver depth. And, with all of the targeted offensive tackles gone, the Jets decided on a defensive pick. I think it was a great decision. This is how you close the fourth quarter out. Pressure the heck out of the opposing quarterback so they can’t come back.

    Second round pick: I’m thinking they go offensive tackle or center. Thoughts?

11. The more I’ve read into McDonald, the better I feel about him. There is obviously still bust potential like most picks, but some scouts or analysts really like him. I have to think this means Lawson is going to get asked to restructure, and if he doesn’t, he might get traded or cut. Either way, no, this is probably his last year on the team.

    I will say this, they have to find out a better way to do this rotating line thing, we have a very strong pass rush that needs to be on the field at all times

12. Some thoughts after the dust settles from round 1:
    Here’s hoping Max Mitchell takes a huge step forward this season.
    Jets still living rent free in Belichicks head (but that was an all time villain move by BB).
    Will McD4 was hopefully the Jets staff top DLine prospect on the board and he thrives in the Saleh/Ulbrich rotation defense.
