  1. Female or male she isn’t the best candidate. Other then a good PR move.

There is several candidates that are available that fit the mold of what we want. Two of which have graduated from our coaching system.

Stackhouse I think is a major candidate, he was the coach of 905 with Poetl, Siakam and Freddy.

Mutumbo had great success with 905, currently working with the sun’s who have had success.

Charles’s Lee is an assistant under coach bud, Jenkins and Ham both had successfully moved on from being under Bud.

Chris Quinn is my personal favorite, worked under one of the best systems and best coach’s and a team who also had success. Big part of the heat.

What would Hammon bring that is better then these candidates?

She was in San Antonio and apparently had a not good reference when she left to interview for head coaching jobs.

  2. Becky Hammon will be a good coach I think but her first gig will be a team looking for good PR more than the coaching aspect. If the Raps are tearing it down anyway, I could see Scottie being receptive and it could work but if you have vets who are older and you’re trying to win now I’m not sure this would work in the same way.

  3. If we are rebuilding, I would like to have her with a few top level assistants.

I would hate to see Becky being tasked with winning with Fred and Pascal while developing our end of bench players…

  4. Could you imagine her going off on a ref for a bad call (and we get a lot of them)? They would shit themselves lol.
Bring her to our house now.

  5. I would be happier with Jerry Stackhouse, as impossible as that is. He’s my first choice, far and away, because he has shown both discipline and flexibility, which is a very rare combo in the NBA. Also, he’s done that inside our org, which has value.

Hammon is my second choice, though, because ultra-high-performing point guards are essentially coaches anyway. I still think she needs D1 HC experience first. Give her 2 years running a D1 program, ideally with at least one March Madness appearance, and I’d be all in.

  6. While I’m sure she’d be an inspiration for all the little girls in here, there’s a reason she hasn’t been hired to lead a male professional sports team.

You guys are too much πŸ˜‚

  7. it’s so strange seeing this stuff just because of her gender.

This is a PR move. Woj broke the story that Udoka was the target after Nurse was out. It didn’t happen and the org got pushback so now they’re like “hey guys we’re super pro women here!”

I will say it is super disrespectful to Becky for all these teams to yank her chain like this. I don’t think the question is her being capable. It’s if it doesn’t work out, how many years will you have to wait to fire her because of potential blowback.

That being said please stop comparing winning a title in a 12 team league and a stacked roster to anything in the NBA. It just doesn’t mean it will translate.

  8. While it would be great to see her here, I also wouldn’t be surprised if she wanted to stay in Vegas. She basically had a perfect first season, and the Aces are such a strong looking team. I wouldn’t fault her if she wants to try and repeat.

Hopefully she sees the Raptors as an exciting opportunity to make her make in the league.

  9. First of all in all of the major league sports has there been a head coach/manager that is woman. Why should the Raptors be the first one to experiment with this especially during a crucial time for our franchise.

Most young Men need fatherly figures in their lives as coaches/mentors etc. I think if we do go the Hammon route it will be an utter failure.

  10. Wtf is with all this Becky Hammon propaganda on this sub. Seems really weird for an assistant coach to get this much hype.

All you have to say is she was an assistant for Pop lol.

  11. Honestly it’s getting a bit much with pushing the Becky narrative. We get it, she’s a women and it’ll be a historical thing. We also understand the down points. I feel some guys are pushing this for political reasons, which isn’t cool.

  12. Great. Now virtue signalling Tontonians can act even more superior to the unwashed backward masses of humanity hiring male coaches as we crash and burn a once proud franchise by making a hire that has nothing to do with merit.

  13. Such a Canada move. Lets replace a top tier employee with a diversity hire and wonder why we continue to fall short.
